That hotel ruined our vacation: STAY AWAY!
First of all, that place was kind of in the pricey side, as they kept racking up random charges on us. Although it was supposed to be $160 for two nights, it ended up being $240 for two nights which is not exactly cheap... but had the experience been what they had advertised, we would have been fine with it... it wasn't, that placed ruined a much-needed vacation for my fiancee and I, and we ended up leaving after the first night there.
Second, the place looked rough, I mean, really, really run down. It felt as though we were in a gettho or some sort of backwoods shed, but without the charm. The view from the our window was of tons of debris and random trash rusting away with an abandoned-looking creepy old pick up truck right in the middle. The stairs that led to our room (2nd floor) were ready to crumble at any second, as they violently shook back and forth as we made our tenuous climb to our room. The room itself smelled of mildew, everything was old and broken, there were suspicious yellow spots on the walls, bedding and floor... my fiancee and I would not take our shoes off the entire time we were there.
Third, all the facilities or services they clamour about in their advertisement, so as to - no doubt - attract unsuspecting vacationers, from the sauna, to the whirlpool and the complimentary breakfast... they were constantly closed! I got there at 9am for breakfast, and there was nothing served, no one to speak to, as for the sauna room or whirlpool, the doors were locked so we never got to use or even see them.
Fourth, and that's were we decided that it was time for us to drive the 8-hour drive back home, as our vacation had been ruined by the Harbour House Inn... the service was TERRIBLE! After our first night there, we spent the day walking at Peninsula State Park, visiting the local shops, going to the local restaurants, my fiancee and I are a positive couple, we like adventure and we try to see the good in everything. We came back to our hotel room, only to find a nasty, patronizing note written by the manager at our door... Apparently it is now a crime not to make your bed in the morning and to leave towels in the bathroom floor! That letter looked like it was written from a suppervisor admonishing a low-level worker for making a huge mistake. THE TONE WAS UNBEARABLE! This, on top of everything else, just added insult to injury. The terrible service was the final straw... we left a day early and decided to cut our losses short.
That hotel ruined our vacation... trust me: STAY AWAY!
