Decided not to even make reservations
I'm a frequent business traveler making rounds through the Pacific Northwest. This week I was heading down to Scappoose / St. Helens Oregon, and since neither have hotels that accept American Express, I decided to try my luck with the Travelodge in Longview.
I called on Sunday, December 10th, 2006 at approx 8pm (if a manager should ever read this). The employee answers mumbling, and does not identify the hotel.
"Is this the Travelodge?", I ask.
"Yeah", she says.
"Do you have a restaurant on the premises?"
"Hey",she says "Why don't you call back later? I've got a customer here and don't have time for this."
"I was calling to make reservations, but won't now", I was pretty angry.
"Ok, whatever", and she hangs up.
So, I called the Monticello, and the desk guy (John) was very helpful. I don't think I will ever stay at this Travelodge, even though my work takes me through the area rather frequently. The cheaper rates don't make up for the poor customer service. I guess you really do get what you pay for.
