LITTLEtown, USA
By KarenR, 7/9/09
I loved staying at the Moorings...but Carrabelle was just a small fishing village that has not grown into today's times. Some may find this town quaint, but I was appalled by the lack of culture this "village" had to offer. The locals were rude and the food wasn't that great. I didn't appreciate going into a pub, the local grocery store, or ANY other public place to be greeted by a "gentleman" in white fishing boots...(I heard that they are called "Carrabelle Nike's")...only to be slobbered on and asked "You ain't from around here are ya!"...I found the atmosphere of the Moorings to be pleasant, pool a little tiny, staff friendly, but the rest of the town needs an upgrade into at least the 1990's to be considered anything but primitive...phone booth for a police station? Looks to me like that's the most futuristic thing this town has...I almost expected to see a GEICO caveman dragging his wife down the street! I'll be back only if the only way I could ever get seafood was to pick it up in person!

Shallow Water Angler's Dream
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/14/07
Clean, attractivly decorated condo lodging in a full featured marina setting. Our three day stay included boat launching and slip rental at no additional charge. Pleasant and very helpful staff (even printed out local navigation charts for us). Tackle and bait shops within walking distance. Several "Downhome Restaurants" and giftshops nearby. Excellent local seafood. Although there are a couple of cozy pubs in the area Carrabelle is not a "beach party" town. The Moorings offer a welcome change in coastal vacationing with no sacrifice in comfort. Downside? The pool was a bit small. We will be back.

The Moorings ...and that's about it.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/29/04
Nice place, right on the water around a marina. Clean, comfortable and right on the highway. My four stars are for The Moorings itself, since the rest of Carrabelle has been largely left behind by the tourist/investment boom sweeping Florida's Forgotten Coast. I had hoped this little burg would get with it, at least in terms of improved restaurants. But you pretty much have to go to Eastpoint or Apalachicola to find anyplace worth mentioning. Carrabelle's still a good 5 years away from making it really worth a stop. Once you've walked the river, you're done.
