Quaint but moldy!!!
By M, 01/17/10
Recently, stayed here as are a dog friendly hotel..!!! the place is quaint however unclean and falling apart!!! Bedspread was full of stains on inside! Bathroom floor feels like it's falling apart due to water leaking into the floor over the years. Left some personal things in bathroom and went back for them....front desk people were very unhelpful and told me to call house keepers in morning!!!!! went back next day and my stuff never showed up!?!?!HMMMMMM! also, better to book on internet can save about $15 if you do so...not a place i suggest to stay...if you need a pet friendly place...go to The Capitola Innn!!! better deal and location!!!

My family always chose the Guest house.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/17/09
We have three daughters and two boys. The always want to have their birthdays here. We live in Santa Cruz,so when we just want to get away that's where we go.The managers changed, The breakfast was pretty much the same except the old managers set everything up so it felt more at home. They were always baking which not only smelled good but it tasted great. The old managers would greet you when you came into the lobby. But now everything is diffrent. The last time we stayed our friends and family were calling our room alot. We had decided to stay another night. We we're refused and told to leave because she(mgr.) had more important things to do. When my wife did the math we relised that we had put down close to $20,000.00 going there over the past 10 years. I STRONGLY RECOMEND THAT YOU STAY ELSE WHERE.Unless you like being treated badly by rude people.

My Review
By Pamela, 12/29/07
I loved the hotel and told my sister about it. My sister and her husband were going to Santa Cruz and they booked there. They loved it also. The owner , maids , and check in clerk are so nice. The rooms are nice , the pool is nice, the hot tub is nice, the FOOD, yes breakfast and cookies at night. Everyday fresh. Also free internet connections. I will stay there everytime I go to Santa Cruz.

Really Nice Service and Great Location
By MaggieO, 08/27/07
I rated this hotel excellent, because I was expecting a very, very average hotel. I was very happy that the service was great. The manager was so friendly and our room was really clean. Coming home from a long day at the beach to find warmed cookies at night was awesome too! The continental breakfast was arranged very nicely and there was a great variety of food including home made bread. Even early in the morning, the people at the desk were again very friendly and welcoming. The location was great. Not exactly walking distance to the boardwalk, but it was only a $6 cab ride. I will definitely return.

Great Place
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/22/07
Great loctaion. We walked to the Boardwalk twice in one day. Rooms are clean and quiet. Freshed baked cookies at night. I'm talking homemade. Delicous! In the morning Breakfast is served in the office. Freshed baked goodies. Don't miss out on the cinnamon rolls! Coffee was excellent! Staff is very friendly. It is almost like staying in a B&B, but better. We will return.

Wonderful Time!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/07/06
Husband & wife owned. They were very hospitable, and really cared about their customers. They know the good spots in town. Hotel was older but clean and you got more than you paid for. 15 minute walk to boardwalk. I would go there again.

Super charming!!
By Jason, 07/23/06
I loved this place. After reading some of the other reviews I was a bit worried but they were all wrong. We went on a very busy weekend and this was more reasonable than all the other hotels. The staff were WONDERFUL! They went out of their way to be accomodating for my family and I. (Also didnt charge extra for a friend who stayed over) It was walking distance to the beach, had a market a block away for things we forgot. The pool/jacuzzi were awesome. Fridge and microwave in room were super convenient with my two little kids. Best continental breakfast EVER! Awesome water pressure in the shower. Very charming beach hotel with lots of personality. I will always go back to this place when visiting Santa Cruz. Sharon
