Strawberry Valley Inn, Mt Shasta

They failed to deliver: 1) bathroom was dirty and toilet didn't flush well, 2) lack of outlets for the coffee maker and lamps, 3) sofa was not a sofabed as promised and thus didn't have any sheets, 4) TV didn't receive any channels, not even local news: a call to the front desk didn't amount to any resolution, 5) no hangers in the closet, 6) no wine/cheese/chocolates as they had promised. Supposed newly renovated unit was lackluster and showed signs of a rush job - light bulbs and switches were lying in the drawers. The floor panels were uneven. I've seen Motel 6's in better quality. I've sent an email to the management and have yet to receive any response, not even a "thanks but no thanks" for my comments. I would never go back. Make sure you don't sign up for any units at the "NEST". They're not worth the money.

The owner was very friendly and accommodating, including handing me a glass of good pinot as I was checking in, exhausted from having just climbed Mt. Shasta. To my surprise the room was really a two room suite, nicely decorated and very comfortable, and modestly priced. There is a good Mexican restaurant next door and a charming California style one across the street. Good continental breakfast too.

Staff was courteous and knowledgeable. Room was beautiful. Enjoyed breakfast in the main house. It was a wonderful experience and I will be back! S.R.

The husband and wife team that live on site were so friendly. They gave us the scoop on all the local spots worth visiting. Our room was lovely, with a comfortable king size bed. All in all, it was a great place to stay! We'll be back for sure.

the staff in the evening could have cared less..........wine cheap. Upholstery on furniture in living area of room 2 needs to be cleaned. Diverter valve in shower needs replacing and towels were thread bare. At $141 per night we should not have had to make up our own hideabed. Wont come back........

The pictures of the motel shown on the web site made it look more up scale than it was. We were expecting something more modern. It is more like a restored 60's motel. We did not get the room we had requested. Since we were 300 miles from home, we were stuck. There is a great mexican eatery next door. We would return to the restaurant, but not the motel. It is not a luxury, romantic setting for a couple.

I had stayed at the strawberry valley a couple years ago and had a nice trip . this last time i arrived it blew me away. wine and cheese hour, extened contintal breakfast(pastries muffins juice hot/cold cereal, muffins, eggs. )beautifully remodled rooms and the friendliest staff around. When I arrived, a young lady named Samantha checked us in and explained the ammentities. when we had a burnt out light bulb, Samantha was extremely curteous and offered to change it herself. wonderful staff...beautiful rooms. who could ask for more???

This place was a surprise for my husband and I for Valentines day. The room was so comfortable and we loved the way it was decorated. The chocolates, strawberrys and rose pedals are the perfect addition. The wine and cheese in the evening was so relaxing along with a ton of food for breakfast. They have new owners and in the past year they have completely redone the rooms. I can't wait to come back in the spring and see the landscaping as everything was covered in snow. Some real nice dining within walking distance also. Perfect weekend.

This place would have gotten a 5 STAR rating from me as my husband and I found the inn to be very comfortable, peaceful and the staff generally respectful & helpful. Unfortunately, I have lowered the rating considerably - because of "BOBBY"... A week after my stay, (and though I was starting to feel somewhat silly about it) I called the inn again after having tried for several days to track a lost pillow and got - "BOBBY" on the phone. (The day I'd checked out I had called to let them know that I had left it. A week later we were still working on it.) I had never spoken to "BOBBY" before. As I tried to get the story out, he let me know that he knew nothing about my story and that he was not finding it interesting enough to keep from interrupting in an attempt to steer the conversation away from actually having to do something about it. I wanted to speak to the woman who had last been helping me or leave a message for her. He wanted to know where I bought the pillow; he told me how busy they are; he said that he'd have to search every room and examine 600 pillows (apparently they own the motel across the street) to find it; he told me that he would put an APB on the pillow and I should call back in a week. Through all this I did not lose my temper. I did question his hostility (his delivery is something short of droll, but hyper - very hyper) and in the end, I absolutely lost my temper. I suppose I will never see my pillow now and I will miss the stupid thing as I have had it for over 20 years (at this "BOBBY" expressed incredulity and commented that he had a baby blanket once)... Enough about "BOBBY". I'd like to (at least) thank the helpful woman, who on 8/16 & 17 (?) attempted (without making me feel like an idiot) to hunt down the pillow and though she didn't get back to me, (hence my call which got me - "BOBBY") she was trying to help. And thank you William (?) who had sent a pillow to me earlier in the week, but it was not The Pillow. Thanks for trying. If it is necessary to qualify the reason for having sought the return of my possession, (and it shouldn‘t be) here's why; The Pillow is a dense feather one on which I always sleep and as I have arthritis in my neck, it makes my nights a good deal more tolerable. It’s extremely comfortable and whoever has it; you've got a fine friend there... And "BOBBY"; you're in the wrong business. You would make a good bouncer, security guard, traffic cop, body guard (no gun), civil servant (obnoxious functionary variety), D grade politician. No hospitality work.

we've been coming here for years and we always look forward to coming back. its in the best part of town and the landscape is so beautiful. the breakfast is a simple continental style breakfast but it does the job. the rooms are comfortable and they serve wine in the evening, we enjoy sitting outside with a nice cup of wine after dinner. thanx again.
