it was not worth it!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/13/10
The price was way to high for what you get! Don't be fooled by the breakfast advertisement,it was a joke.Cereal and a sausage gravy with hard biscuts.Plan on going elsewhere for a good meal. The A/C was noisy and never got the room cool till the next morning.I was never asked upon checkout how my stay was,but of course they already had my money and didn't care. The bathrooms were tiny and the toilet ran all night too. What a dump!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was a convenient place to stay to visit Gem Mountain, that's all I can say good about it.

OMG ! The Hotel From Hell!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/27/09
The property looks like something out of WWII. The hotel is dirty. The staff are your typical mountain people. The total carma reminded me of a B rated movie that went south. Do not ... I state do not even think about staying here.

Very Dated Property
By J Reynolds, 2/5/08
The Pinebridge Inn is a really unique concept and could be a beautiful facility if the owner's would make some much needed cosmetic improvements. All of the furnishings need to be replaced including carpeting, draperies and bedding. The facility needs a THOROUGH cleaning from top to bottom including paint. The hallway ceilings are incredibly dirty, the draperies and bedding are very worn and dated, the entire building smells of mold and mildew. I didn't really feel safe here because of the old "lock & key" doorlocks. These need to be upgraded and replaced with more modern locking systems. Also, the maid threw out everything in my refrigerator while I was out one day! I don't understand why the owners don't invest some monies into making much needed infrastructure improvements. I would never go back given the current dilapidated state of this property. Great potential, but definitely not a desirable place to stay in its current "rundown" state.

The Pinebridge Inn
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/6/07
The room was large and comfortable but the bed was as hard as a rock. The trains passing all night long got to be a little annoying. The walking area by the river is very nice and peaceful. All in all the stay was okay BUT the price is too high.

The Hotel on Haunted Hill
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/6/07
I got the feeling the people that worked here could have cared less about our comfort...The train that seemed to come through our room about every hour and a half was most disturbing...After all,,how many people in Spruce Pine can be ON the railroad tracks at 330 AM??? Would never,,ever stay here again....Weird vibes

Pinebridge Could Use Some Remodeling
By Jeff, 2/23/06
This property has the potential to become a very nice and charming inn with some attention to detail. It is in desperate need of upgrades and remodeling throughout. My room had mold/mildew on the walls, the furnishings and draperies are antiquated and in need of being replaced - my lamp shade was held together by tissue paper. There was no hot water in the bathroom for several hours. Also, room door locks need to be upgraded for security with card entry systems. The hallways/corridors are also in need of refurbishing. The inn does serve a lovely continental breakfast which was quite enjoyable. The land around the hotel is very quiet and peaceful. With a few enhancements and long overdue updates this could be a great place!

Unfortunately, they have a monopoly...
By Melanie Fields, 10/11/05
Spruce Pine has very few lodging options and we have stayed at Pine Bridge several times over the past 10 years. In the last 2 years, we have sadly seen the quality decline. The rooms, though clean enough, seem worn out and poorly decorated. The hotel is over-priced. And the last time we were there, a large group was staying in the hotel and hanging out "partying" in the courtyard below the window of our room after midnight. I called the front desk twice and got no satisfaction. I tried to call the police, but was routed to a recording! The third time I called the desk, the clerk was outside with the large group! Not a pleasant experience when you're paying $85 a night and trying to keep a 4 year old asleep. Although Pinebridge is centrally located and used to have a certain charm, the outrageous pricing and poor service is enough to make me travel an extra few miles to stay elsewhere.
