A Really Great Experience!
What could be better than finding a home away from home? With delightful hosts like Patti and Bear who became instant friends. Such is life at the Crooked Oak Mountain Inn. We stayed in three B&Bs on our recent trip to the Asheville area (which is beautiful by the way) and Crooked Oak was the one in which we felt the most welcome, the best cared for, the most comfortable.
Comfortable in our rooms (we were in two) which were nicely appointed, beautifully kept and reflected careful craftsmanship, and taste. Comfortable at breakfast with its flexible dining time, personal, warm service and, of course, the creative cullinary stylings of our gourmet hosts. Comfortable in our beds which which we loved - we slept great! Comfortable in the peaceful setting which is only about a 10 minute drive to the heart of Asheville (it felt like a retreat but certainly close enough to the action). Comfortable on the lovely grounds- made for relaxing and so nicely conceived.
But this is what touched us so much. Most B&Bs are a collection of strangers and maybe one gets to share with others and make some nice acquaintances. At Crooked Oak strangers became friends so easily - partly because the common areas invited such connection but mostly because Patti and Bear have a natural way of making the atmosphere so light, easygoing and friendly, so inviting and welcoming. It seemed like everyone just felt they were able to loosen up and relax and say hello! It felt great. The host always set the tone in a B&B and here the tone is "hey friends, you are very welcome here." That warm atmosphere is what makes the Crooked Oak stand out.
We really missed it when we left.
Book a room here. Come with a light heart and a smile. It's a great home away from home.
