A classic! Beautiful and historical, I'd go to Arcata just to stay here

The Hotel Arcata is has been around since 1915, and shows it in some fun ways. From the old-style stairwells to the high plaster ceilings, it shows its history well. The property is in generally good shape, and the bathrooms have great clawfoot tubs. There is even wireles internet service throughout the hotel, though it is less reliable than other places I've been to.
The hotel was inexpensive and the service was great. Oddly enough, there is a nice sushi place downstairs. As it is right on the Arcata town square, there are lots of shops and places to eat nearby.
On the downside, both I and my colleagues staying there found that outside noise came into the rooms readily. In some ways, the hotel does show its age, and some of the fixtures are somewhat worn.
I'm looking forward to going back to Arcata and staying at the Hotel Arcata. It was a fun, funky highlight of what could have been a boring business trip.
