Decent value.

We chose the Sunrise Motel because we wanted a smoking room and were looking for a lower priced roof over our heads while we visited the area. This is exactly what we got.
Owner (new owner, if I understand correctly) was friendly and helpful via phone and email during reservation process.
Our room was the small queen bed single (?I think that was the classification here) and that, too, was what we got.
Nothing fancy, room included a bed, desk/chair, TV, small fridge, microwave and coffee maker, air conditioner and a box fan.
The bed was on the firm side but worked well and we were happy to NOT wake up with 'motel room backs'. A definite plus.
Nice hot water in the shower.
Situated between super-busy route 3 and a small airport, well, that was obvious going in and the airport did not create a problem.
Kind of attached to a tiny breakfast and lunch place, Kathy's, which serves up great breakfast. Another plus!
We got the vague impression that the food folks do not bond well with the motel folks but yeah that was just the impression.
There is a nice looking heated pool we did not get a chance to check out close up but it looked well maintained. Grounds were nice with a net in the back yard, space for the kids to run around in if you have some.
Our only minor complaint was that the young people who make the rooms up are very tight with the toilet paper. Husband went down to the office one night waving the nearly empty roll and we were treated to three rolls so if you're up there soon enough you will have plenty.
Speaking of young people...the entire near-week we were there we saw no 'adult' running the place. Appears to be a family run operation with the teens manning the desk and cleaning the rooms. The young people who were driving the desk were very nice however and definitely friendly and helpful so I did not see this as a detracting factor, just took me by surprise.
This is a lowish priced motel right off of Mt. Desert Island...it fit our criteria and worked well for us. We would definitely return to the Sunrise Motel.
