Courtyard by Marriott Charlottesville North, Charlottesville

The hotel sits at a great location, near the mall and some restaurants. In addition, the staff is courteous and competent. The room was VERY clean, and it was a great environment to get some work done.

We recently had our second stay at this hotel (the first was last May for our daughter's wedding), and once again we were extremely pleased. The beds are wonderfully comfortable, the service is top-notch, and the breakfast buffet has something for everyone (fresh fruit, yogurt, eggs, sausage, bacon, potatoes, Belgian waffles, oatmeal, pastries...). It is located right next to a mall, which you can get to via a little shortcut through the parking lot, without ever having to go out into traffic. The courtyard is a beautiful place to sit and enjoy a warm day in the summer, full of blooming flowers. The staff is more than willing to do whatever needed to make sure you enjoy your stay. The ONLY thing I would change is adding a wastebasket to the enclosed part of the bathroom. We will definitely stay here each time we visit, since it feels sort of like "home" to us.

As any skilled traveler will tell you, Courtyards are largely identical and provide a comfortable stay and a good value. However, this particular Courtyard is outstanding as a result of the kind and caring front desk staff. One employee took the time to explain in great detail my dining options and had the staff bring to my room a microwave and refriderator, gartis!

Unfortunately, I was not vacationing in Charlottesville, but helping my father who was a patient at UVA Medical Center. The first time we stayed in C-ville, we stayed at the Red Roof Inn (unless you have pets who stay with you, beware!). Let's just say we decided to stay somewhere else the next time (we were staying at 2-4 week intervals). We booked at this hotel the next time (and all times after that-we're still going there). The place is clean, relatively quiet (it's at a main intersection), and located near a few restaurants. There's an indoor pool (with CLASSICAL music, to boot!) and a restaurant in the hotel. The staff is, however, where this place really shines! Friendly (especially for C-ville, don't let that southern hospitality stuff fool you here!) and efficient, I was very impressed. When we we stuck for an extra night due to an unforseen medical event, the hotel was unable to get me another night's stay (Cavalier football season). The young lady at the front desk went above and beyond trying to find me a room (no dice, but she DID try). I really got the impression that she was sincerely trying to find us another room. Little things like this mean a great deal when you're away from home. I HIGHLY recommend this place if you're staying near UVA.

the place was awesome! the view was excellent! everyone is very nice. good for someone with a family member in UVA or in their hospital. needs a mirror in the bathroom.
