Terrible stuff
By ismail, 01/03/10
This hotel has the worst hotel staff ever. Extremely rude.If you are a guest and just in need of help ( especially a foreigner) never think about this hotel. The weakest chain of red roof at all

Staying at this motel was okay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/03/07
We - my wife and daughter and myself - are from Germany and stayed a couple of days in der NJ-area. We arived an Liberty airport and had little problems finding the motel we booked from Germany. Its better to take a cap than going by train and bus, esp. during the night. At the train station in Secaucus people helped us finding a cap - it was a little bit difficult to get one -. The room was clean and comfortable. We paid about 80 Euros, because we booked it in Germany. I think, booking via internet is cheaper. Booking in a agency in Germany had the advantage for a free breakfast at Amazon Cafe, just across the Inn. Going to New York Center ist easy. 150 m away is a bus station to NYC. We had really an excellent stay.

service could have been better
By oliwa123, 07/20/07
we arrived to stay for 5 days, 4 nights, the light over the vanity, although reported daily, was never adjusted, flickered as if to give us a seizure! 3 alarm clocks later, we found one that worked (they even gave us the same one back once!) we found some one elses tube sock in our bed (any one missing one?) the people were not forth coming with info of the area, most could not even speak english! then the worst, what burnt me the most was when we put out the do not bother sign, and the same cleaning lady banged on our door and tried to enter from 9:15 to 11:00 5 times!!! we kept telling her to go away, but apparently she could not speak english either, so much for a little sleeping in. location is awesome for nyc however, if you understand the stops and the buses

Red Roof Inn Secaucus, NJ
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/15/07
Upon arriving at the Red Roof Inn and checking inn we discovered that for three adults we had been given a room with only two double beds in. When I booked the holiday and hotel and was assured that we would have three beds in our room. The hotel staff were very unhelpful and did not offer us any alternatives are to help us make any calls in order to sort out our problem. I used my mobile telephone to call England and out travel agents which will I am sure cost me a fortune when i receive the bill. Also when it came to checking out we were told by one member of staff that we could stay in our room until 15.00 when our taxi was collecting us to take us to the airport, however, when the day arrived we were kicked out of our room at 12.00, and had to sit in reception for 3 hours until we left. Very unacceptable after we had been told we could keep the room by other members of staff!!! Also the location in relation to New York City is very poor. The bus service only runs every 1/2 hour on weekdays and every hour on weekends and can take upto an hour to get to New York Port Authority Bus Terminal. If looking for a proper New York experience I suggest you pay the extra and stay on Manhattan Island itself!!!!

I always stay here when I return to that area
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/07/07
I used to live in Bergen County, NJ until moving to upstate NY in 2001. I return to the Red Roof Inn in Secaucus each visit to NJ. The service is great. The rooms are comfortable, and perfect for my needs. The location is excellent for easy access to NYC via car, bus, or train. Its close proximity to Route 3, Route 17, and the NJ Turnpike make it an ideal location when visiting friends and relatives in Northern NJ. In addition, the location--right on the shore of the Hackensack River--provides lovely, urban sun rises and sunsets plus a boat launch for motor boats and canoes.

Great budget accomodation
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/06/07
We stayed at Red Roof Secaucus for 5 nights and found no serious faults with it. We chose the place to stay as it was cheaper than staying in central Manhattan as it was just before New Year's eve. We knew there weren't any hairdryers or irons so we brought our own, but didn't realise they didn't have jugs either which is probably my main complaint. Good location with Dunkin Donuts and Wendys across the road. Bus comes to the door, however just be aware that the buses do not always use the same route. I think the bus comes to the door every 10 min on mornings of weekdays and drops you off up to approximately 6-7 pm and doesn't go on the route at all in the weekends. Instead, the nearest stop is about 1km away and bus only travels every hour instead of every 10 min. The room was clean, linen and towels were clean as well, bathtub looked grubby, but I think more from age than it being dirty. The guy we dealt with at front desk when we checked out was very pleasant and polite. Overall, it was a pleasant experience at Red Roof Secaucus and we will definitely stay there if we needed a budget accomodation.

Noisy neighbors at all hours
By David H, 11/08/06
We came here from a North Bergen hotel to stay for a few days and it was both good and bad. First the good, the staff here was very good, the manager a French guy was very nice to us every time we walked in, also a P.Rican girl was super nice and fun to talk to. There is a sitting area on the river out back for resting and looking around. Buses are pretty close by and a few restaurants a crossed the street. Now the bad, the noise from people talking in the court yard at all hours was terrible. A call from the front desk at 3:30 am to ask me if there was noise was unbelievable, and the sheets weren't changed during my whole stay, also one of the worst beds I've been on. I would probably stay at the place I came from at less money and I had a fridge and micro too. Thou not as pretty. It all gets down to what you're willing to spend. Watch out for the high priced cabs and get a price before get in and it won't be cheap. I won't do that again!

best 2-star motel I have ever seen
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/27/05
Very clean room, toasty warm in the winter, nice staff, excellent value for the rate. Very large motel - plenty of rooms. Across the street from Dunkin Donuts which is helpful for breakfast (motel as no food). Vending machines and laundry facilities are available. High-speed wireless internet connection available for T-mobile for $9.99 per day (other options available).
