Float Trip relaxation
We went to float on the Niangua but wanted the comfort of a hotel instead of camping. It is about 15 minutes from most of the float outfitters. It is close to a Wal-Mart Supercenter for those items your forgot or choose to buy last minute. The hotel itself is clean, but I will warn you that the entire first floor smells like stale, damp cigarette smoke. Apparently all the smoking rooms are on the main floor so that you are hit with the smell immediately upon walking in. Once you get upstairs the smell is not noticeable. The rooms were clean and perfect for the weekend. The beds are really soft so if you like soft beds you'll be happy enough. I was more comfortable on the floor the first night, but then noticed that the other bed in the room was not nearly as soft as the first bed, so gave the kiddo's the boot and stole their bed. I slept great the second night. Not sure if the bed was all that better or if I was too exhausted to care. The shower nozzle is eye level if you are 5'10" like I am. Rinsing the shampoo from your hair is a little like doing the limbo. My husband is 7' tall. He didn't think it was too funny, but his belly button has never been so clean. I suppose if you were under 5'5" this wouldn't be an issue. All in all the shower and beds are the only complaints I have and I'm not even really complaining. Just giving warning. The breakfast was great. Cereal, milk, juice, coffee, donuts, bagels and fruit. Very good selection and they keep it stocked until late in the morning. The pool area was great and away from the road so it was private unlike some of the other hotel pools. The front desk was very helpful and friendly. We would stay here again.
