We liked it
We stayed there and it was fine. It was a good deal, but the building was old, and it was basic. Just what we wanted. It was perfect to get to Fenway.

We got cheated! Do not stay there!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/11/07
This place realized at nightmarish scenario: we got to Boston after a 14 hour drive early in the morning. We asked for a room for 3 people for $85 for a night's stay. We were clear about our expectation that we're paying for a night's stay there (despite the checkout being 3-4 hours later). After an understanding and a handshake, we took our luggage to the room. We were first surprized to find only 2 beds there. Not a huge problem at the time and we decided to sort this out with the management afterwards. After spending a wonderful day in Boston, we returned to the room only to find our luggage missing! Upon inquiry, we were told that we checked out at 11am. and if we wanted to stay longer we should pay more. Dumb-founded, confused, tired, and incredulous, we attempted to remind the management of the deal we had earlier but to no avail. The stubborn owner at the other end did not have any of it. We ended up leaving after having paid $100 for storing our luggage only..that's it! ***DO NOT STAY THERE UNLESS YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE.*** What a cheat!

dont ever go there
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/15/07
The neighborhood its all right is not scary but is not fancy either. The fact is that the hostel is horrible, beds are uncomfortable, bed bugs everywhere, it is just a filthy dumpster. And the price 40 bucks a night for that? I have slept i many hostels in Europe and I had never paid that much for a room. I feel like it's my responsibility to tell you all to not even think about going there.

the worst i've ever seen
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/30/07
i can't tell you anything i like about this place, because everything i've seen was so ugly and disgusting. it was extremely stinky and dirty. the cause of this awful smell have been our roomates the BED BUGS. From the bed bug bites we got a rash which we had about five weeks. also the neighbourhood was a bit frightening. the bathroom was realy ugly and the doorknob was located on the floor when we first wanted to use the bathroom. these are our impressions of the farrington inn

No longer a good place
By steve dore, 9/4/05
I have stayed here four or five times. The first few times were terrific. The last few times have been awful. The rooms have not been cleaned between customers. One of the people working in the place is extremely nasty. The towels are more hole, than fabric. The rooms are no longer clean. On my way out today, I met another customer who was changing rooms because of bedbugs. The buildings and rooms are structured well, but unfortunately the owners no longer seem to care about the quality. We spent an entire evening defrosting about a foot of ice that was left in the refrigerator in our room. These are inexpensive rooms for Boston. If you are driving, the parking is free. The location is excellent. BUt beware. Watch for bugs. Bring your own towels. ANd don't count on even basic cleanliness.

Don't say we didn't warn you.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/13/07
Stay here ONLY after you have exhausted all other options, and ONLY if you can live with a dump. It's just that simple. Then, isolate your clothing from the bed, and do not mix clothing you have slept in back into your bags. Take them to a laundromat and dry them to kill bed bugs, which you are at least 50% likely to have, and don't want to be getting rid of the rest of your trip. The area is fine, just not pretty. The bathrooms are liveable. The workers at the desk -- avoid them at all costs, stand your ground, and get a manager on the phone if there are any issues whatsoever. Good luck.

Where is the hidden Camera?
By Dani, 8/19/05
Expecting the worst after reading this page we actually had a nice surprise staying in this hostel. We stayed in one of the private rooms- we upgraded it when we got there. The room was okay- pretty clean. The only problem we had with this place was the weird odder it had in its corridors. To solve this problem we suggest you to bring with you an air re-freshener... If you have room in your bag, you can shove in some sheets, not that the beds were dirty, just for your own comfort. For the tough question- Where is the hidden camera... we didn't manage to change our over all rating- we would have given it 3 stars!

Charm at a Price
By NicoleP, 6/22/05
Note: I stayed in the most expensive room in Farrington. This may account for the different view. I personally loved the place. It was built in the 1870's, which accounts for the exposed pipes and weird quirks (have to bring it up to code, you know). The room was big, clean (though not cleaned while we were there), and the kitchenette was very convenient. There were even dishes and silverware in the drawers (not sure if they were left there or provided for us). My few complaints are that they forgot to get us toilet paper. No problem, but it was kind of annoying to wait for the guy. Another complaint is with the keys. The place is old, so the keys were stubborn. Oh yeah, there was a leak in the room, but they didn't know it was there, and it wasn't a big deal. The hall near our room wasn't lit well, but it didn't matter since the people on our floor seemed nice. Definitely try it. I think that one guy who was supposed to bring the tp to us was the one employee I had a problem with. He checked us in, taking his precious time. His little tour of the room was rushed. It was well worth the money. Spring for the more expensive rooms, it'd be a better experience. If you want something different, try this place. If you expect to be waited on
