The Carriage House is located on a quiet, country lane, yet it is also just around the block from all the attractions and activities of the Historic District. Innkeepers Jean McHugh and son Haziel take pride in sharing their extensive knowledge of the Island, and offer top-notch concierge services. The Carriage House, built in 1865, with its "friendship" or "loving" steps, warmly welcomes families with children of any age. It should be noted that credit cards are not accepted. An expanded continental breakfast is served.
The Carriage House is probably the cheapest place on the island. That said, you should not expect a level of inn you might if you paid three times more. The value is the thing, here. If you want to explore the island and have a decent place to sleep at night, then this is the place for you. If you want to sit in an air conditioned room, watching TV, then go pay $400 per night.
The service is great. Haziel is very friendly and extremely helpful with island guidance.
We will definitely go back.
Liked: Location; quietness; friendliness of host.
Disliked: "Healthy food" for breakfast; price of room ($200 each night); no parking for vehicles except by chance on two streets away.
Probably won't go back, but clean room and bath were acceptable.
I`ve stayed there for two summers and it was great !!! THE CARRIAGE HOUSE is ideally located in a quiet lane just five minutes walk from the Main street. it`s charming,clean,great for families and well-priced ( as on Nantucket of course :)
Haziel (the owner) knows a lot about the island and not only :) , he also bakes the best muffins.Tommomi (his wife) is sweet,nice and very friendly.
If you wanna see Nantucket for small price and stay in a place with charm - go to THE CARRIAGE HOUSE.I especially recomend seeing of island in time of fall...
I would love to return...
Hey, you're on Nantucket island!
'Extended' breakfast left us short of expectation. Breakfast being an important part of the 'Bed and ...' thing, we have taken a habit to use this meal to prepare for a long day of discovery;
We were disappointed to see the cereals were a mix of your common supermarket variety;
The only juice on the table left more than a guest perplexed about its composition;
Muffins were kept to a minimum (1/guest);
None of the breakfast item included cranberries, THE famous item of Nantucket.
The house is quaint, but the common area is dominated by the owner; it is quite small and not fit for relaxation after a day walking around the island.
The Hen House is Nantucket's small town eatery where you can get filled up without emptying your wallet. A local
favorite with a warm neighborhood feel. The Hen House provides plenty of options for breakfast and lunch although you ...
Century House is memorable, resplendent bed and breakfast with a breezy, wrap around veranda and top cliff historic location. Century
House is the oldest continuously operating guesthouse on Nantucket and invites you to experience the freedoms that this faraway ...
