Melbourne Harbor Condominiums, Melbourne

Loved waking up to the harbor sunrise, sailboats, local college rowing team practice in the morning (felt like Harvard) and sailing team in the afternoon (felt like the Naval Academy). Should be noted here that I am a bit biased being the proprietor of one unit and we have now added new, noise softening windows and totally redone facade outside. Historic Downtown Melbourne and her harbor are further becoming the vacation place for dinning, art & music festivals, eco-adventures, and a walkable urban downtown area. The City has finished a new Crane Creek North prominade with lights, benches, and plants following my a pedestrian bridge to parallel the current US 1 overpass. Across New Haven Avenue where Melbourne Harbor Condo fronts is newlt remodeled, "The Mansion," for fine wines, lite eadible, deli foods, deserts, and full meals with a cultured atmosphere for all (Opening June 2010).

I've stayed here every couple of years when I visit family in the area. The last time was July/August of 2006 and I’m contemplating another trip soon. There was construction during that vacation, but we learned to live with it for the week we were there. You can also hear some traffic on the highway, but I’ll bring a fan or white noise machine next time to drown that out. You could really only louder street cars and large trucks, not every vehicle passing by. One of our favorite parts was the excellent housekeeping staff. Everything was spotless when we returned each day. We are a family of cooks and we found the kitchen well-stocked with pots and utensils. Seeing as it’s a smaller place, we had the pool to ourselves most days. The location is close to the causeway so it’s a quick ride to the beach, and even someone unfamiliar with the area should find it easy to get around with the major roads are close by. I don't remember what we paid, but we remember it was worth the money to have the ability to cook meals and relax on the balcony. You can also walk over to the river and maybe catch sight of a manatee. We will definitely stay here again.

The wrecking ball is only five minutes away. There is a reason there are NO photos of the interior of the unit. The moldy smell upon entering continued throughout the unit. Was actually afraid of what I might find in the bathroom--mold. There was NO ONE available to speak with. Office had long been shut down. Any amount paid was more than the unit was worth. Maybe when the place is torn down and a real hotel or condo is built in its place, it might be worth another visit, but I won't ever be going back. YUCK!

Its been a few years since I stayed here and the improvements are great. Its good to see the motel next door gone and new condo going up in its place. The big TV and the wood floors in my unit was a pleasant surprise. Your staff members are very nice. Good selection for breakfast and free Internet access is a great added amenity for me. Only disappointment was pool not operating but Management took care of me and assured it would be operating on my next visit by end of month.
