Terrible business, possibly a scam!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/15/11
This hotel was horrendous. The staff was extremely rude and VERY accommodating. I asked to speak to a manager and the man at the front desk refused to let me talk to him, claiming he was not there. I asked for his name and phone number and he still refused. I continued to complain and finally got to talk to the "unavailable" manager. The music was so loud in the lobby, we had to step outside to talk. Very little of them speak english and do not know how to conduct a proper business. When we tried to check into the Chesterfield, they claimed that our room was under construction. We had made the reservations two weeks in advanced and they failed to notify us in advance of this problem. They claimed to not have had any more rooms, yet their vacancy signs were on. They put us in Sunbrite apartments, which was in a residential and sketchy area, in a room with ONE BED, between four girls. Needless to say, we did not stay there and got our money back. These people do NOT know how to run a business and, I believe, are running a SCAM. If it weren't for us booking the rooms through Orbitz, we may not have got our money back. Please be weary and DO NOT stay with them or any of their sister hotels: Chelsea, Sunbrite apartments or Whitelaw hotels . They do NOT deserve your business because they are a bunch of rude crooks that don't care about customer loyalty.

Partiers only!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/10/09
If you are traveling and looking for a place to party this would be an ideal spot to chose to take up temporay residence (parents take note). The free services here are set to accommadate those seeking a good time, not families. I came with a group of girlfriends from all over the US on Labor Day weekend and this place was ok for what we needed. The shuttle from the airport, happy hour ( which is really only a hour lol) and the service were all great. Most of the staff seemed to be happy to help, the bars were small but everyone had a good time, and I didnt carry my bags at all ( the doorman ruled). We brought alot of sand back from the beach (a block away) and they did an EXCELLENT job cleaning it up. The floors are hardwood, & the shower was decent ( we had a tube in our suite which was an outside room). Didnt notice the mildew smell until going up to the rooms that were inside the hotel. There are tons of eatery's on Ocean and Washington (one block each way) and the clubs are a $5 cab ride away. Had a hard time getting face towels, they didnt change the trash bag once and you can hear alot outside in the walkway. They could have done better with the curtains (torn with burns) and the walls (alittle dirty around the vent) but its a party hotel. I did see the "mildew spots" someone referred to but my allergies didnt flare up. There are bums that come up to try to lounge on the outdoor patio but they nipped that in the bud right away. Oh and the music wasnt that loud but like I said our room (411) was outside & up a walkway( like 4 doors down from the "I Heart Sushi" bar they have). There were things I could have complained about but the amosphere was exactly what my crew needed so I won't. I am very picky about were I lay my head and after spraying my Lysol I was fine so you will have to be the judge........

WARNING - No Suites but Lots of Mold - Bad news
A quick trip to Miami for the Boat show and Valentine's Day turned into a nightmare staying at the Chesterfield. Paid for a "suite" and got a room smaller than a single. No closet, a little refrigerator as a side table and less than 10 inches between the end of the bed and the wall. Black mold on the walls of the shower and in the AC. Looked at three other rooms the next morning for a move. All the rooms had mold you could smell in them, acknowledged by the desk clerk. My girlfriend reacts to mold, and had a hard time breathing and sleeping. After two nights, her doctor said she could not stay another night. The desk clerk would not refund any of the money paid for a suite when we got the single, and would not refund our payment for the last night, when we had to leave per doctor's orders. The manager was trained to say "no" and to refuse any refund of any money already paid, even when our departure was health related. A letter to mangment requesting a $199 refund was totally ignored. The manager claimed there was no mold, even though her desk clerk had told me it was in all the rooms because the building was so old. Bad place, bad people, bad deal. Avoid the Chesterfield and all the related South Beach hotels. Your health may depend on it!

Wouldn't stay again
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/19/09
The location and theme is nice. However, there were roaches in my room and no working phones in the hotel. The waiter also carry food outside to the sister hotels, which sem very unsanitary. The bathrooms are not pratical, the shower water runns all over the bathroom unless you put towels on the floor. You will bruise yourself seriously on the corners of the beds. The sundeck and spa are awful, the view is of the alley and the hot tub was filled with bacteria. Skip this hotel and dont believe the pictures.

Great for those partying in South Beach
By ProudtobeATL, 5/29/08
We stayed here for a coed bachelor party and had a great time. It was close to everything and the rooms were awesome. Stereos with Ipod docs in the room and free happy hour for guests. We had to unplug the TV because it had this big bright blue light that shined but otherwise the room was comfortable, clean, and just plain cool to look at. Our bathroom also had one of those great rainfall showers. The front desk was courteous and helpful when we asked for directions and locations of things. No, this hotel is not family oriented but those that are coming to South Beach to party, be it singles or couples, its absolutely perfect.

Worst Hotel Stay Ever
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/24/08
Worst service I have ever received at a hotel. Our air conditioning in our room was broken. The hotel could do nothing for us so we decided to move hotels. We were erroneously charged by this hotel! And forget management being on site to help. We requested the assistance of a manager 5 times and never saw one. When we left the hotel, the manager finally called us and said we should have waited for her to show up before leaving. Are you kidding me? I would never recommend this hotel to anyone.

Great room, great price
By Tiffany, 11/28/07
Planning to go back, the price was great for the location. The room we were in was just renovated and very classy and modern. Just blocks to the ocean, night clubs, great dining places. Park in one of the structures if possible 2 blocks from hotel and save.

"bring ear plugs if you paln on staying!!"
By chrissy, 10/11/07
i wasn't real impressed in the beginning. we tried to check in early but they wouldn't let us, so they sent me, my daughter and my girlfriend to the beach for a few hrs. after returning, hot sweaty, hungry ect.... the front desk informs me we couldn't stay because my c.card was declined. i checked mo. in advance and even was e-mailed by the manager(chris rollins) that we would be able to pay in cash at check in. they tried to send me, my daughter and best friend to another hotel. but i was dead set on staying at this hotel. after all, i looked around a long time prior to our "cruise vacation" to find a good deal as far a hotel. after i mentioned the managers name who had e-mailed me , they kindly changed their mind and found us a room. after that whenever we would walk through the "lounge" we would always get a look from the people behind the desk. but at night was a whole other story. from 6pm-4am is non stop loud screching ,horrible at times music. we were litterally 6 steps from the bar!!! on the good side of things, the "happy hr." was worth checking out. we tried to get down anything we could drink in that time.LOL! the beach was right aroung the corner and there were lots of shopping and dining to choose from. we also met a really cool irish man at our hotel. im not sure if i would go back, but if i do, ill be sure to bring ear muffs!! .-ohio

Great location, bad sleep.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/24/07
I arrived at the hotel 2 hours before check-in and i thought maybe i'll see if there was anyway i could check in early. The rude front desk girl said "No!", and preceeded to answer the phone as if i wasn't there. Well i was going to go somewhere else untill i found out i'd have to pay for a full night to cancel. So i just waited. The hotel was very old and it takes you a minutes to get used to how cramped the interior is and the old smell. The room on first glance was nice. I then found out that the remote to the tv was broken. Then i wanted to call down to the front desk to see where the icemaker was, but the phone did not work. I then walked down to the front desk to find out that the icemaker was broken and i'd have to walk down the road and across the street to an affiliated hotel to get ice. yay! There was no divider in the shower separating the shower floor from the bath room floor. The gross part was that the water from the shower accumulated next to the toilet before draining by your feet. Kinda gross. My room was at the back of the building on the second floor, but the music in the lobby/bar on the first floor was so loud it reverberated through the walls. So untill 2 or 3 there was no way you were sleeping. If you're looking to party and stay up late then the hotle would be a nice cheap fix. I personally will never stay there again.
