RUDE INSULTING staff, terrible service!
By HS, 5/16/09
The GENERAL MANAGER would not allow us to check in at 12:00, we had to wait til 3:00 pm EVEN though he admitted that there were plenty of vacant rooms. His excuse was, quote "its a revenue issue" When my boyfriend said that we are guests, the same manager said "you aren't a guest yet" CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT! Unreal. They serve a gross free breakfast thats open until 10:00 am. However, the clock in the room was set an hour off so we thought it was 9:00 am and it was actually 10:00! When we told them they said that we could still help ourselves. Gee, thanks, all their was left was cereal and stale muffins. This place is digusting, stay away!

Really deteriorated like a ghost town
By Sux 2 b u, 1/5/08
Having pleasantly enjoyed stays here in the late 1990s and early in 2002, my family and I looked forward to our Disneyland area "home away from home" during our November 2007 visit. Even without the expectation from our fond memories, this hotel provided one of the worst lodging experiences I have ever had to endure. Upon check-in, (after having to rouse the desk clerk from her apparent 2 PM nap), we were assigned a room which had seemingly been taken over by homeless squatters, as the room was barricaded from the inside, and the management clearly felt it should have been unoccupied. The pleasant, hibiscus vine-covered gates surrounding the fountain and spa areas had fallen, leaving bare rusted metal barricades protecting the inoperable fountain (strewn with mold-covered garbage in the damp basin) and unheated pool. The amenities promised by the hotel's website and the booking agent did not exist; namely, there is NO hot daily breakfast buffet (a cold fend-for-yourself cereal bar with no staff in sight remains), there is NO complimentary daily evening reception with snacks and beverages (a pay-per-drink bar replaced it), and there is NO complimentary shuttle to Disneyland (you can pay to book your own transportation at a per person fee). The staff (when they can be found-maintenance never ever did answer the many calls made to try to extricate the squatters) were inattentive and sullen, and the housekeeping staff has a breezy job, as their policy stickered to the room wall says they won't daily change linens or sheets unless you make that specific request of them, neither did they remove trash from all room receptacles. The bedsheets were constructed of some burlap blend, and I was unamused at being short-sheeted with flat sheets where fitted might have been expected. The property couldn't have been 10% filled, and I was honestly fearful for our security after having seen the few odd single (all) male guests in attendance. On the plus side, the parking is free (which is usual for sites so far from the Disney Resort area), and it did have free wireless internet access in the rooms that didn't cause my laptop to crash. Never again.

Whoops
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/17/07
I didn't like that the shower didn't work, a rather rude surprise when I needed to wash my hair for the day. Finally decided to make do with the drizzle - then the tub didn't drain. The sheets had holes, the mattress was very old, as were the towels. The happy hour with three free drinks was a nice touch. You will need them if you plan to stay here.

In desparate need of renovation!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/28/07
The Hawthorne suites has become a rat hole of a motel which is why it is easy to book. The outdoor areas are worn and dirty, the plumbing is abysmal and the rooms have gotten so dank that there are distinct smells of mold and mildew. They have promised a renovation for the last year, but obviously want to fleece the consumers as long as possible. Unfortunate for a Hyatt property!

Never again
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/28/06
We reserved and were given a price for a 2 bedroom suite and 2 double suites when we arrived the 2 bedroom turned out to be a one bedroom and ended up paying double the price quoted for the 2 bedroom. The room smelled like mold and of the 3 rooms (we were a party of 10) and the air conditioning did not work in one of them for 2 days. We received 1 bottle of shampoo for 3 days and had no remote for the TV. The keys kept deactivating and we had to go to the front office 8-10 times to get it working again. The service was poor. As for the breakfast there were all sorts of bugs in the area where it was served. I would not stay here again if they paid me.

We had a pleasant stay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/27/05
We liked their full american hot breakfast buffet and their free drinks at happy hours. We also liked the pool and the spa. It is a nice property. We dislike the fact that the freway next door is under construction and we were unable to walk to the mall.

Never Again!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/12/05
Having read some nasty reviews about this place, we cancelled our reservations. Although we were just a couple of hours over their 24 hour window, they still charged the full room rate plus taxes. This I didn't mind but they sure were rude when I called to cancel. Someone from our church, who does not have a credit card, checked in there a couple of days after we cancelled and told us the staff were really rude to her. This is a place I'll NEVER stay at even though they're close to the Crystal Cathedral in Garden Grove where we go a couple of times a year.
