Really deteriorated like a ghost town
Having pleasantly enjoyed stays here in the late 1990s and early in 2002, my family and I looked forward to our Disneyland area "home away from home" during our November 2007 visit. Even without the expectation from our fond memories, this hotel provided one of the worst lodging experiences I have ever had to endure.
Upon check-in, (after having to rouse the desk clerk from her apparent 2 PM nap), we were assigned a room which had seemingly been taken over by homeless squatters, as the room was barricaded from the inside, and the management clearly felt it should have been unoccupied. The pleasant, hibiscus vine-covered gates surrounding the fountain and spa areas had fallen, leaving bare rusted metal barricades protecting the inoperable fountain (strewn with mold-covered garbage in the damp basin) and unheated pool. The amenities promised by the hotel's website and the booking agent did not exist; namely, there is NO hot daily breakfast buffet (a cold fend-for-yourself cereal bar with no staff in sight remains), there is NO complimentary daily evening reception with snacks and beverages (a pay-per-drink bar replaced it), and there is NO complimentary shuttle to Disneyland (you can pay to book your own transportation at a per person fee). The staff (when they can be found-maintenance never ever did answer the many calls made to try to extricate the squatters) were inattentive and sullen, and the housekeeping staff has a breezy job, as their policy stickered to the room wall says they won't daily change linens or sheets unless you make that specific request of them, neither did they remove trash from all room receptacles. The bedsheets were constructed of some burlap blend, and I was unamused at being short-sheeted with flat sheets where fitted might have been expected. The property couldn't have been 10% filled, and I was honestly fearful for our security after having seen the few odd single (all) male guests in attendance. On the plus side, the parking is free (which is usual for sites so far from the Disney Resort area), and it did have free wireless internet access in the rooms that didn't cause my laptop to crash. Never again.
