Best Western Huntington Beach Inn, Huntington Beach

I too, was hesitant to stay after reading some of the reviews, but I found the staff nothing but accomodating and courteous. My room was a part ocean view with balcony.....the oiler drigger did not bother me at all, quiet and I still had a great view. Room was clean and comfortable. I am going back in fall of 2009 because of the good experience and closeness to beach, restaurants and shopping!

After reading the reviews we were hesitant about staying at Best Western, so we booked a room across the street at the Huntington Surf Inn. HUGE mistake. The rooms at Huntington Surf Inn were filthy and desk help was inhospitable. We reluntaley walked across the street to Best Western and booked a room for the night. We found the desk help to be very courtious and professional. The room was perfect with a nice beach view and most of all, clean. We booked the room for a second night and once again found a different desk clerk to also be very courious and professional. Anytime we're in Huntington, we will be staying at the Best Western.

My wife & I booked a room for ourselves and one for our son, his wife and their 2 boys. Later we read some bad reviews about the hotel and the staff so we decided to visit it a week before our reservation date to investigate. Upon arriving, we asked Melissa, the day shift front desk person if we could take a look at a room. She was very pleasant & friendly and let us take a look. We liked what we saw. Fast forward one week - We arrived at the Best Western and we were once again greeted with a smile from Melissa when we checked-in. The rooms were very clean and we really enjoyed the close proximinity to Huntington Pier and restaurants. By the way, Chris, the evening shift front desk person was also friendly and he seemed ready to make our stay a good one. The "only" drawback is the hotel doesn't have a pool......but YES INDEED... We will book this hotel again.

I found service to be inhospitable and impolite and I have never experienced more disturbing behavior in any other hotel I have stayed at. I booked my room a month in advance since the weekend I would be staying there was my birthday. I checked in and an imprint of my credit card was taken and I was made to sign even though an amount was not filled in. I was also told I would be charged $300 if there was any evidence of cigarette smoke that blew in from the balcony. I was told I was not allowed to have any parties or get-togethers in the room whatsoever or I would lose my rental deposit and be evicted and I was surprised because I had intended to use the room for a benign get-together at some point. There had been no notice of this particular strict rule upon making the reservation. I the assured the woman at the desk I was not having a “party” she said “oh don’t worry the hotel can tell the difference between visitors and a party”. Later that night discovered that the balcony locks were defective. When you exit onto the balcony and close the door behind you (so the smoke doesn't get in and you lose $300), the sliding glass door locks behind you leaving you completely stranded out on the balcony. After 4:00am, we finally saw a man and yelled for him and were able to get him to go into the hotel and tell them to come help us. Next day I wanted to bring a couple friends back to my room to show them the view. A minute or two after we stepped into the room, the phone rang and a very shrill, rude girl told me “those people in your room, they’re leaving now!” I explained to her what the person who checked me in had told me and I assured her we were not doing anything resembling a party. In a very snide manner she then told me “I seriously doubt anyone told you that”. Then she said she would call the police. She further explained that she could “see” us in the elevator and could see everything that was going on because they “have cameras”. I was very disappointed that I had spent so much money on a hotel room ($260/night) only to find myself treated worse than I ever have at any hotel anywhere. Upon checking out the next morning no one inquired about my stay. When I mentioned that I had been locked out on the balcony till 4am on Fri the woman who checked me out just laughed and said “ oh that happened to you, too?” I was also not thanked for my business, I was simply handed a receipt for $577.00 and sent on my way.

My boyfriend and I didn't even get to stay the night. We are both 20 years old...and had booked a spa room about 2 months ago for our 3 year anniversary. So..we walk in..all excited, and are refused our room becuase we are not 21. It doesn't say ANYWHERE on the website that you must be 21. It says you have to be of legal age. Which last time i checked was 18. We talked to a live person on the phone to book the room, and she did not metion the 21 thing. I told the {INCREDIBLY RUDE} man at the front desk that it doesn't state on the website that you have to be 21, and he said that it absolutly does. So.. i'm sitting here, RIGHT NOW on the website, and it does not. I'm a local, and i work right on main street, not everyone in the area is RUDE like this. I've been to numerous other best westerns, and they were great { and under 21 was fine}. I thought this one wouldn't be any different, but it has RUINED our weekend. DO NOT BOOK A ROOM HERE. I read the other reviews about the rude staff, and i didn't think it would be that bad.. But i've been crying all afternoon, they have ruined our anniversary. I've never been treated so rudely. I'm sorry to who ever has stayed there.

For the price, I expected more. The Rooftop Spa listed in their ammenities was "out of order". The rooms and bedding was old, though relatively clean. I was very surprised that their were no in-room movies on demand. The location was the only thing worth bragging about for this hotel.

The hotel staff was awful. The information about the hotel on line is misleading. They offer rollout beds as part of their ammenities but when you get there they make you sign a paper stating that you only have 2 people in a room with a King-Sized bed. I booked this hotel months before our trip to make sure I had a place to stay during the peak summer season. If I had know ahead of time, I would have booked 2 queen beds. Well, they kicked us out for having 3 people in the room! (The 3rd person was my daughter) They said they knew we had an extra person in the room because they were watching us on a short circuit TV???? I asked if the camera was in the room and they wouldn't answer me! They forced us to leave but would not refund our money even though we had not used the room. They said Housekeeping was gone for the day and it was too bad for us- we should not have broken the rule. What kind of rule is it that you can't have your daughter stay in the room with you on a rollaway bed???? When we left I was very angry and accused the hotel of using their "rule" as an excuse to get rid of us so they could make more money on the room. The woman at the front desk told me that was exactly what they were doing and I couldn't do anything about it. She was actually proud of herself! By the way, I should say that I filed a complaint with Best Western and while they were very sympathetic, they stated they could not do anything about the issue because the hotel was a franchise owned by an individual. I tried to get the name and address of the owner from the motel manager but he flat out refused to give it to me. I suspect it is owned by someone out of the country. In my entire lifetime I have never been treated so badly as I was by these people. Don't book a room in this hotel or you might find yourself driving 20 miles to find a place to sleep like we did!

Don't understand those knocking this hotel. I have stayed at this hotel for several years and have always found the staff more than accommodating and how can you knock the terrific view. A really good place for the money. Could have more of a breakfast bar but how much can you carry across the street to the beach? LOL

Management and staff were, to put it nicely, unaccomodating. Continental breakfast consisted of Folger's coffee and stale muffins and croissants with no butter or jam/jelly. For some rooms they will take an imprint your credit card and make you sign it without filling in the amount. This is for a "security deposit" so they say. Three blocks away is Main Street which consists of nothing but bars - expect alcohol related disturbances, expecially on weekends. Huntington Beach Police response time was great and officers were very nice.

manager rude, desk clerk rude. Spent $100.00 per day; I wanted a no smoking room, but it was smokey. I did not want ground floor but even though hotel was not full they would not move me. There was no microwave, and because I called a few times before I came to find out certain things about the hotel, they recorded every question and every time I called. They were extremely rude and after a couple of days told them I was leaving to another hotel because the room was just too noisy. They did not care and told me there was nothing they could do. Everyone in that hotel was unfriendly and the hotel I changed to was extremely accomodating and respectful. I called Head Office of Best Western but they did not care of any complaints I had. Never would I go to a Best Western Again.
