9 reviews for The Lodge at Sunridge, Surprise
This is the best place in the world to live.
By Dana B, 06/26/09
My husband and I relocated to Surprise, June 19th. We choose The lodge at Sunridge, and we just love it. We will be living here for at least 15 months, until he is out of training at MMI. This place is great, and I can have my two cats here. The grounds and our unit is very nice. I don't know why anybody would give this place a bad review, they must be crazy. All the office staff are very nice and helpful. I say if anyone is moving to the Surprise area they should check this place out. You even get free internet, cable and a land line phone. All the beedrooms have a TV plus a nice one in the livingroom. Our unit has a new sofa and love seat. plus a Leather recliner that has built in massage. What more could you ask for. All bills are paid too. We have a two bed two bath unit we only pay $ 1017 per month that includes everything, even a fully stocked kitchen and washer/dryer linens, towels you name it it comes with the units. Plus they throw in two trimline phones and line service for free, local outgoing only. But hey you can not find a better deal anywhere. We are very pleased with The Lodge at Sunridge. Come on out to breathtaking Arizona and stay at The Lodge at Sunridge.

NOT FOR US!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/27/08
THE APARTMENT WAS TERRIBLY DIRTY. HIDE A BED HAD THINGS IN IT FROM GOD KNOWS WHEN. WHEN YOU COMPLAINED, THEY DID COME TO CLEAN WHATEVER YOU REPORTED, BUT NOTHING ELSE. I REPORTED THE BURNER ON THE STOVE OF WHICH I ONLY HAD TWO AND IT WAS NEVER FIXED.EACH TIME YOU DISCOVERED SOMETHING, IT WAS ANOTHER TRIP TO THE OFFICE, IF THEY WERE OPEN. (BEFORE 5 P.M.) HOT TUB WAS NOT WORKING.

I Have Stayed Here Several Times
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/17/08
The Lodge at Sun Ridge built about 1987 has units in buildings that are either two or three stories high, and all come with a small balconey. Some units are owned by the resident or family who live in them year round. Some units are rented out to AZ residents who have a lease like any other apartment. And some apartments are rented out for a night or two or a week or month to people traveling. There is no separate building for just the traveler and they are housed with the rest of the population who live there more permanently and that is much of the problem. I think they should have one building where only people who are traveling are housed. I have stayed here for a few weeks each summer for several years as I have family in the area. I stayed a month summer 2007 in a one bedroom unit that had a broken dishwasher and despite repeated pleas to the front desk, it was never repaired even though I had paid extra to stay in a unit with a dishwasher. No money was refunded at checkout either. During a prior stay, I had a broken washing machine with the parts all over the floor. I don't think the units are ever checked prior to occupancy to make sure all appliances work, the kitchens are stocked like they say they will be, and the place is clean and ready for a client. Also the cleaning staff does not appear to be trained on what to look for or what problems need to be reported to the front office before the occupant checks in. In this they are deficient. Some units are more nicely furnished and fitted than others and it seems to be the luck of the draw as to which one you get. However, if you have a longer stay in AZ, or want something bigger than the average motel room, this place is absolutely the cheapest place in the Surprise/ Sun City area for a longer term stay. The place is just off of Bell Road and has a lot of good shopping and restaurants in the immediate area. Ask for a unit away from an elevator.

Apartment Getto Style staying
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/13/08
This was a horrible experience. This is truly an apartment complex that rents out its rooms under the false name of Hotel and Lodge. Wrong!!! No real front desk if you need to check in after 5pm, or if you have problems in your room. People live in these apartments year round, Christmas stuff still up in mid-February. By the elevator on the third floor there is a BBQ grill, used more for cigarette ash tray. The elevator is filled with cigarette smoke, and they sit out at a patio table right next to the elevator doors, smoking! I talked to the man at the front office and he angrily told me to call the cops, like that was my worry. But since this is NOT a hotel or lodge and an apartment complex, that is how it works. Our room was very dirty. The bathroom was horrible, the toilet paper had been wet and then dried, hard as a rock. Hair, dirt, stuff in the shower and on the bathroom floor. The chair in the living room was nasty!!! The fabric was so built up with human grease and scum that it was worse than a college dorm. Bad place, unhelpful and unfriendly front office people. Should not be called a hotel, lodge, or even an extended stay place. Those all have real front desks with people who work there more than 8 to 5. Look elsewhere.

We will be back!
By Patty, 12/13/07
Being from the east coast I didn't know what to expect. It was like being at home. Washer/dryer and a dishwasher and a stocked kitchen with 2 small children was a great addition to the normal hotel. Having the pool and yard also helped. The staff was more than happy to accomodate our family. There are plenty of restaurants and shopping in the area also. Will be back next time we visit Arizona.

Like home away from home.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/04/07
Great to have all the amenities, washer, dryer (in the condo)a livingroom, dining area and a bedroom separate from the other areas, dishwasher, stove, pots, pans, silverware, iron, ironing board, housekeeping items. Balcony was nice at night. Elevators made it convenient. Pool/spa were centrally located. Got a lot for a very reasonable rate. Nice, accommodating personnel try to please. Convenient to Loop 101 or 303, grocery stores, shopping centers, etc.

OK for the price
By Linda, 02/12/07
I've stayed there several times and it's nice to have so many things like washer and dryer in the room, pots/pans/silverware, regular size fridge, usually an iron /ironing board, microwave, etc. You don't get too much of a breakfast (for which you actually pay an extra $20 - $40 per day at those "free" breakfast hotels), but there are lots of places to eat in the area. Unlike most hotels, there isn't the stench of cigarette smoke or smoke-covering chemicals that can be found in many hotel rooms (whether they be labeled smoking or non-smoking rooms). I wish their prices were lower, but in my experience only smelly Motel 6 has lower prices in that area.

Was adequate
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/12/04
We stayed in the one bedroom with a hide away sofa. It was nothing to write home about - it was adequate for our stay as it was like an apartment. It made it very nice to use the washer/dryer right in the room. The dishwasher didn't work to well. It is an older establishment but it was home for the week. The phone did not work the 1st (2) days but they did get the problem resolved. The rooms are sometimes rented for long periods of time to renters. We just happened to have this one just after it had been taken back. I've seen nicer but for the money you can't beat it. (Summer pricing that is - $45.00/a night)

The Lodge At Sunridge
By leon, 04/08/04
Condition of the room was appalling. Rugs filthy, stained and in need of replacement. Oven not cleaned. Cobwebs in corners and on light fixture. Not enough utensils, Coffee pot not cleaned. Bathroom not clean and some repairs needed. Bedroom door needs replaced. However, matters were quickly responded to whenever reported.

Outside areas better than the inside rooms, they were constantly working and maintaining, except the tenants need to be reminded to pick up after their dogs--poop everywhere on the grass and not cleaned up very often.

Exercise rooms and equipment need to be updated, repaired and cleaned.

Club house, pool and hot tub are satisfactory.

Free breakfast consisted of cereal and doughnuts. It should be updated to include healthier choices, such as yogurt, bagels, whole wheat breads and juices.

I don't think you can find a less inexpensive hotel in the area, so don't expect too much and don't hesitate to notify management of your complaints. They will do their best to resolve any problems, but you have to ask.

Would I stay there again? Only if I could be assured that the rooms were cleaned and repaired before renting.
