The front desk was unfriendly at check in and it all went downhill from there. All 4 of us were sick within 48 hours of arriving at the hotel. Nausea, vomiting, diahrea, fever, one person in our group came close to going to the hospital. If you read some of the other reviews you'll find the ambulance came several times to pick up patientsand they're hospital bill came to more than the vacation. This hotel should be shut down. They won't admit anything, very unfriendly, even our city tour guide said he had heard of the bug going around the hotel. They finally said the river flowing into the ocean there is contaminated and they were cleaning the kitchen extensively. Although no responsibility was taken they wanted us to file a report with the Dr. who wanted to know exactly what foods we had eaten before getting sick. To file the report is no charge but it's $70 for a Dr. exam even if it's their fault. I noticed several dishes that were not entirely clean in the buffet area. I think they know it's their fault but can't figure it out. Hand sanitizer from the hostess is your admission ticket to the dining room. Almost everyone we met had someone in their family who was sick, some very seriously dehydrated. One poor lady was sick her entire week there. Please do not take your family there. Even after the sympthoms are gone you feel weak and cannot digest food well for several days. Take your hard earned vacation somewhere else. To make things worse this hotel has a terrible infestation of tiny mosquitoes/noseeums that bite. Almost everyone had bites all over their legs. We were sitting around the pool scratching like a bunch of dogs !! They hotel's only response is they can't do anything about it because the location is in the jungle. One man looked like he had measles, I had 50 - 60 bites. It's so good to be back home. Also don't bother to pay the $12 per day charge for the WiFi, you must sit in one corner of the lobby to use it, and they don't bother to tell you that either before you pay. The beach is not walkable due to the contaminated river and there's not much there. It was the most miserable vacation we've ever had and the hotel's attitude made it all worse!

My wife and i have been coming to la jolla for ten years, the last few years we have seen a strong decline in the service, appearance, and the attitude of the staff. When we first went to Mismaloya it really was a five star hotel, now i would rate it below motel 6.

The facility itself was beautiful and the anemities were great, however, I have a couple complaints regarding noise. My wife and I came primarily to relax on the beach; she likes to read and I like to nap and swim. Mismaloya Bay is very small and this hotel rents wave-runners which are constantly running around this very small bay. My wife said she felt like she was at a motorcycle speedway and wished she could just listen to the sound of the ocean; I felt I couldn't venture too far out into the water for fear of being "runover" by a careless wave-runner operator (also this bay is not very clear and there is very little sea-life for snorkeling anyway). At night there is a band/performer which plays Fri, Sat and Sun nights till 11pm that is much too loud. Even with our windows closed we couldn't sleep at 10pm due to the bass of the music. If we wanted to go out we wouldn't have stayed in! My wife and I definitely preferred the Four Seasons in Puerto Vallarta for a relaxing, quiet sea-side vacation.

wow, my friend and i stayed at this hotel and the entire stay was seriously the best week of my god damn life!!! man if u stay here be sure to go down to the beach and meet all the friendly people, the little bars down by the beach are awesome, and cute guys as well...

when ever we was there, the expirience was just fantastic, we have been to many places but none like la jolla de mismaloya, it realy feels like your in heaven, almost everything was perfect just as we had heard, i loved it and cant wait to go back!!!!!!

the pools were amazing the service was great not enough suff though but still a great hotel very nice rooms the beach was soft the set up of the hotel was cool lotsn of room heat not overbearing could find shade easy very tropical

It was a nice hotel but for the price you had to expect it. There is a lovely resturant across the street but...It was a long bus ride from town and the bugs are terrible. Our entire group was eaten alive my some kind of no-see-um. The weather wasn't as good because it seemed to be always cloudy. It was very pretty but I would rather stay at a smaller hotel with excellent service and no bugs!

I loved this place, I loved the pools, hot tubs, beach, ocean, and the people. My parents and I went on so many different excursians. I saw the wales, i went snorkeling horse back riding, everything I loved it, Me and my freind amber got to pour shots on stage at a hotel party and judge a dance contest, we had so much fun and I would love to go back!!!!!

We stayed at a villa up the hill from this resort in Mismaloya. The guides at our villa said to stop by and visit some of the restaurants at this hotel. We called ahead to make sure that "non hotel guests" could eat at their restaurants and they said yes. When we got there they basically wouldn't let us on the grounds and didn't seem to want to explain or help us. I understand if they have a "guest only" policy, but the policy didn't seem to be clear to any of the employees we talked to.

I loved this place because it has a great view,has great view, mini bar in the pool,and scuba diving p.s. we loved it
