Howard Johnson Express Victorville, Victorville

This was by far the worst motel I have ever stayed at. The room was filthy. We found a cochroach in the bathroom. The shower did not work and there were bugs in the bed. My husband called the howard johnson national number and we found out that this motel is privately owned and just uses the HJ name. Yikes, this place as well as the occupants and employees, was SCARY!!! Steer clear of this one!

Its been awhile since our "experience" at this hotel, and I was reading reviews to see if anything had changed. Obviously not! Our one night here, much like the other reviewers, also included the police showing up and surrounding the place til dawn, handcuffing of upstairs (directly over us) occupants, spread eagled in the parking lot as we left (in a hurry I might add) and complete denial of it all by the check out clerk. We later wrote to HJ hdqrts and they sent us a $25 voucher to stay again at HJ's.EEK, no way.

Not up to HOJO standards I know. Rooms are run down and out dated. The exterior is nice and freshly painted but insides are something to see and forget. Rates for this quality Motel should be around $29.95 and no where near the $50-$60 range.

My hubby & I thought that since HJ hotels are a chain that there would obviously be a standard they live up to, but we were oh so wrong! The outlets were falling out of the walls, the fridge made this weird hollow sound the whole time, bathroom was so incredily tiny, the towels were so cheap and rough that it actually hurt to use them! They're great for exfoliating your whole body though! Tv was crap as many channels were fuzzy or didn't work and the remote was taped together so it wouldn't fall apart. Carpet was nasty and sticky in spots. Shower was extremely poor and had no pressure. Just felt really seedy and scummy stayign there and luckily it was only for one night. This woudl had been $80!!!!!!!! a night, but because we reserved online we got the room for $60 and that was about $30 more then it was worth. Owners/managers clearly couldn't careless about the appearance. Do yourself a favor and avoid this and all Hojo's at all costs and if for some reason this sort of dump gets you off then at least know to bring your own towels!
