I was not that impressed.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/15/11
I asked for ocean front view when I booked the room in advance. They gave me room 133 it was an ocean front room but I had a view of the bushes in front of my room. The room smelled musky and my sheets on the bed did not feel dry. The queen size beds are more like a full size. I must say the pool was very nice and the staff was ok. Overall I was very disappointed..

Always Good
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/19/10
I am sorry to see that John (Mogley) left from the Tikki Bar, I first knew him when he was a bar-back - 12 years ago. The previous statement prefaces my sentiment that I have always felt as though I was part of a family every time I stayed at the Comfort Inn Oceanfront, Jacksonville Beach (or as we once referred to it as, 'The Comfort'). Through thick and thin and all the changes - I have always felt welcome. There have been some past irreversible changes I have witnessed that have left me waning, but all in all, I do enjoy all of my stays. Good job to both staff and management.

Nice Weekend Getaway
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/25/10
This is a great place for a weekend getaway! The biggest fault we have with the management is the lack of maintenance with the pool itself. The pool is the attraction for this hotel yet they rarely clean the edges where all of the oil residue collects. Having open access to the beach makes it difficult to keep the pool sand free ... however ... better attention to detail would do the management good. However ... I will say this ... if you are unhappy about something the management will be more than happy for you to leave so someone else can take your room. We go here every year for our anniversary and every time we hear the management tell guests if you are unhappy you can leave!

I'll look for another place next time
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/28/09
Positive...Breakfast, location, beach access, Internet access, hotel staff Negative...Access to the pool was available to anyone from the beach. The gate was not secured which made pool area congested and crowded. The pool had debris floating in it 2 days out of 4. I was in room 319. Avoid this room. I was not able to sit out on the balcony because I had the heat from the air conditioner units of my room and room 321 going at all times. My "city view" was actually the parking lot, hotel next door, an exterior wall and the window looking into room 321. I felt that I had to keep the curtains closed to my room to avoid 321 from looking into the room and so they wouldn't think I was looking into their room. Very awkward. The bathtub would not drain. When taking a shower I was standing in water. The shower curtain had a musty odor to it.

Not for the 'pool' picky
By PA Central NJ, 7/9/09
Rooms were suitable for the price - no real complaint. Nice continental breakfast. Staff was nice and helpful with information about local events. But... I would not stay there again. Security was inefficient. Access between beach and pool/hotel was open to all and we heard visitors at the Tiki Bar (overlooking the beach) tell others (outsiders) that there was a pool available. Hoards of young adults, few of which were staying at the hotel as guests, entered through the beach access gate which was unlocked and through the hotel lobby and met their friends at the pool. We overheard at least 2 hotel guests on their cell phones inviting friends to join them. This made the pool very crowded and difficult for the children to enjoy because of the antics of these folks. They were in the pool with their cans and bottles of beer; they smoked cigarettes while in the pool flicking their ashes onto the concrete and even stubbing them out alongside the pool. A lot of that happened on Friday evening and Saturday afternoon and evening. Sunday the pool was not cleaned so it was filthy inside and out; we had to ask them to skim the pool but it wasn't vacuumed or chlorinated (needless to say we didn't use the pool that day!). The concrete walkways and pool lounge chairs were filthy until Monday morning. On Friday, Saturday and Monday morning pool cleaning was started no more than 1 to 1-1/2 hours before it was to be opened; in my opinion not enough time to do a good job with the size of the pool Needed were hotel personnel stationed at the pool access points to check for room passes and constant checking to stop the drinking of alcohol and smoking while in the pool. A cleaning service should be employed to thoroughly clean in and around the pool 7 days a week.

Highly Recommend this Hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/14/08
My family and I visited this hotel last weekend. I have to say it far exceeded my expectations. All of the rooms are oceanfront suites, with a "living room" and bedroom, and a balcony overlooking the ocean. Our room was clean and comfortable. The staff was very helpful and courteous. Surprisingly, one of the things I liked best about the hotel was the free breakfast. I'm always skeptical of what you'll get when hotels advertise a "complimentary" breakfast, but this hotel provides a wonderful breakfast buffet every morning that has something for everyone. (Items included eggs, bacon, sausage, gravy, grits, waffles, biscuits, bagels, toast, donuts, cereal, oatmeal, yogurt, fruit, various types of coffee, orange juice & apple juice.) Right outside the hotel is a boardwalk and then you cross over to the beach. The beach was clean and beautiful. There are several shops and restaurants within walking distance of the hotel. The only potential downside to this hotel is if you're looking for a large pool. I wasn't -- I spent all of my time on the beach -- so this wasn't an issue for me. I would definitely go back and will recommend this hotel to others.

I liked it alot. It was very clean, the bed was comforable, and it was walking distance from alot of things. I enjoyed waking up and having a good meal every morning. And every night the bar treated me well!

Wonderful Hotel on the Beach!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/2/08
I recently stayed at this hotel which is literally on the Beach - lots of white sand to sink you feet into after a long day on the road. We checked in and went to our rooms to unload our baggage and then we headed to the beach. We just exited the back of the hotel and crossed a wooden bridge and we were right on the beach, white sand as far at the eye could see. The hotel was very clean but the rooms were not hugh, but certainly big enough. We stayed on the 5th floor and had a baloncy overlooking the Hotel pool, which is really nice at night with the lights, and our friends stated on the 7th floor with a view of the beach. The breakfast is adequate, but not a great variety. The only bad thing I can say about our stay was the hotel was hosting a Wedding the night we stayed there and there was trouble from the wedding party - guests etc, during the night and we were subjected to very loud noise, shouting, running in the halls, etc during the night. The hotel staff couldn't do much to stop this activity, so the Authorities were called in to remove the troublesome guests. Other than that, out stay was wonderful. I would certainly go back again in the future.

GREAT PLACE TO STAY
By Bob, 2/29/08
Well...since I rated it so hi, there is not much to say negative, but positive, too many to mention. This is a super place for family and kids and just a stroll to the beach. Guests are greated with smiles and - I think - leave with an anticipation of a quick return.

Will Go Back
By melnhead, 1/7/08
Positives: friendly staff, location on the beach, shower for sandy feet, heated, gorgeous pool (see picture) and hot tub. Beautiful bar area, food at the cafe was good, little Tiki bar out by the beach was only open a little bit while I was there, too cold, breakfast was good and plentiful. A lot of room in the breakfast area. Porches on the beach side are great! Beds were comfortable and the pillows weren't rock hard! Microwaves, refrig and safe in rooms a plus. They have a small assortment of goodies (snacks, ice cream, microwave meals) in the lobby . Drawbacks Rooms could be a little bit cleaner around the edge of floor/wall area ( a pet peeve of mine)and the carpet is worn from the humidity and sand from the ocean. It was average, and acceptable.
