Well run, quiet, clean, and rustic lodge.
We're staying here for several weeks while hiking in nearby Olympic National Park, visiting Victoria, and looking over the area for a possibly retirement location in six years. The owners and staff helped us in detail about how to get to the areas we mentioned, suggested some alternative day trips, and have been quick with service even when we mentioned there is no rush. The lodge itself is contained in 3-4 buildings and we are in the back where it is really quiet. The lodge has an English style garden with all kinds of mixed flowers and plants. Though my knowledge of gardens is less than a pro it is easy to appreciate them and the labor of love that must go into them. The couple running the place has owned it for two years and is steadily improving the property including responsible stewardship of the land. The property is surrounded by trees and plants. The room we are in is clean and typical of hotel rooms except it is larger than most hotel rooms. Other than breakfast (coffee/tea, muffins/cookies, fruit) you'll need to go off the property for meals however there are a lot of restaurants in the 2-5 mile range from the lodge including the casino that we hear serves food 24x7. We have been eating in Sequim at the Oak Table (great for breakfast/lunch) and plan to try other places recommended by the staff (mostly Georgia who is very helpful). The owners stay on the property and were helpful with directions to ferries and places to visit. We find the staff will do most anything within reason to make a stay comfortable. We will be back in future years. We are from the east coast and by chance the owners lived in our county about twenty years ago. It's a small world.
