outdated and noisy

My son and I stayed here for one night en route from Chicago to Philadelphia. It was conveniently located just off I-80, which was the only reason we decided to stay at this motel.
The desk clerk was friendly and made us feel welcome. However, to get to our room, we had to lug our suitcases up a flight of concrete stairs (outside), and down a long outside corridor. The furnishings in the room were outdated, and there we also encountered the world's tiniest bathroom. On the plus side, the room was clean, and there was a refrigerator and microwave.
The air conditioner & fan came on and off many times during the night, which woke us up often. The temperature control didn't work. At midnight, a large truck pulled up underneath our window, and went: KA-THUNK, KA-THUNK, KA-THUNK, WHEEEEEEEEEE!!! We were jolted out of our beds, and slept very poorly the whole rest of the night.
There were also some really seedy looking characters hanging around outside at night. There was a note on the inside of the door which told us that if we saw any suspicious activity, we were to report it to the front desk. Needless to say, we did not feel safe.
One positive thing, though: The breakfast was free and plentiful. The make-your-own waffle machine was fun.
We would not stay there again, and did not feel the headache of the whole experience was worth the price.
