O'Connell Inn, Adelaide

Our previous stay at this hotel had been very good. It's position was close to our family whom we were visiting. However, this stay was awful and we will never return. On arrival we had to wait more than 10 minutes to be attended to because the manager was working in the restaurant. Before he allocated our room he made several unsavoury jokes about our surname. Our room smelt badly of stale smoke and when we asked if he could change it he said he couldn't accommodate us in any other rooms. So we asked if we could cancel and he got quite nasty, saying that we couldn't because he needed 24 hours notice. We had a very bad night - the window was restricted to an opening of 2 inches so limited fresh air was available. It was so unpleasant we checked out after the first of a 3 night stay and will never return.
