Loved it, great get away!!!
By ,
This was an absolutely beautiful hotel, very friendly staff, were very friendly and accomodating. Oh the rooms were definitely unique and beautiful, very high ceilings and clean, slept well. I really enjoyed my stay here. My boyfriend and I were looking for a retreat and I believe we definitely found. Will definitely return. In fact we are now thinking of having our wedding there, they had a wonderful scenic garden that would be perfect. If you are looking for a getaway this is the place. Having read previous reviews about the conditions of the road to Portland, note there has been some improvement, at least the route from Kingston. It only took us 11/2 hrs, from what I have heard that is great travel time. Did not have any complaints, was exactly what I was looking for.

Wow Wow Wow
By ,
We have just come back from our trip and had to write.... a friend recommended this hotel as they stayed here a couple of years back. We were a bit worried as the reviews written are a bit scathing .. .. not sure what that is all about. To start off the hotel is clean, but that should be a given its like saying the car we hired had wheels. The manager says they have had a complete revamp and it shows. The hotel was lovely, the art work is amazing and they are all local artists. They are not all paintings some are metalwork, light sculptures and installations. The hotel is a wonder to look at , its a treat to just walk around, sit at the rooftop garden and have candle lit drinks overlooking Portland. The rooftop looks like a scene from Alice in Wonderland. This hotel is not for everyone, if you like a busy, all inclusive party environment then this is not for you, but if you like to stay somewhere adventurous and has a hint of a 1920 speakeasy throwback then this is the place for you. Location wise its a bit out of the way if you want to walk into Port Antonio but a taxi is only $50-75 dollars away ( 50-70p). There are great restaurants in the area and failing that the hotel restaurant isn't that bad either, but maybe best for the special treat as you can get a bit too used to the silver service. If you want to experience the old Jamaica a-la Ian Flemming this is the place - and if it gets all too much for you, San San Beach, Boston Jerk Town, Port Antonio, Reach Falls, Sommerset Falls, Blue Lagon.. are not that far away.

Best kept secret - Port Antonio's PaLace
By ,
and the best place to stay - most certainly the beautiful Jamaica Palace Hotel with 80 lavishly appointed rooms & suites , tropical gardens, a magnificant pool, sundecks overlooking the ocean and the Blue Mountains as a backdrop, truly a sight to experience. A friendly and knowledgeble staff from the Receptionists , waiters and bartenders, the chaimbermaids , groundkeepers to the staff in the kitchen. The rooms are spacious, individually decorated , all have large sep. bathrooms with tub & shower, cable tv, phone and A/C. Being along the Main road, it is easy to get around and visit the attractions nearby. Overall a nice and welcome vacation place to experience again .

Nice Spot
By ,
Stayed here for a few nights in 2004. The hotel is absolutely beautiful and the staff, extremely courteous. The prices were a bit high even for myself a tourist, however we managed to shop outside the property for food and drinks and found it a lot more reasonable. Property is clean and the service commendable. Natasha - NJ

EXTRAVAGANT
By ,
My wife and I stay here every year. It is an exquisite venue for all of your needs. The grounds are magnificent and the service staff are remarkable. The only problem is that the lunch and dinner prices are a little on the expensive side at around $20 a plate but breakfast is a bargain. You cannot go wrong here and the price is exeptional for the value and quality. We will be there in July 2006!!!!
