Horrible experience
By A. SUKHWANI, 10/25/08
We checked on 10/1/08 for 3 nights. They had chocolate wrappers and a Expedia itenerary for"SWAIN" from Canada for CN$4032.00 from 10/1 to 10/14/08 on the kitchen counter and the beds had already been slept in. The check-in personal had a indifferent attitude when the matter was brought to their attention. They gave us a voucher for B1G1Free "LUAU" (Hawaiin Folk Dance with Dinner/Drinks). They refused to honor it and Suzette from their check-in office claimed that we had gotten the voucher under false pretenses. What baloney! They don't have any etiquette as to how to deal with Customers! Their B1G1Free offer costs $100.00 plus taxes inclusive of the B1G1Free offer. We contacted BOSS FROGS Dive and got 2 tickets for US$110.00 inclusive of all taxes at a better resort Royal Lahaina Resort in Lahaina which is close by. I don't see what all the ruckus is all about. Why give a coupon when you have no intention to honor it? We filed a complaint with their main office. I don't think I will ever get a response. We received a satisfaction questionaire from property management, we filled it out online on 10/5 or 10/6/08. Today is 10/25/08. They have yet to respond. DO NOT STAY HERE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. The place is not cheap anyway. About $150.00 Plus taxes for each night.Take your business somewhere else, where they appreciate it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

will definitely go again
By bp, 04/17/08
We had virtually no dislikes about this hotel, which surprised us after reading many negative reviews. It was always clean and was in a convenient location. We had a view of the pool and a partial ocean view. Half way through our week long holiday, some noisy neighbours arrived. That was the only negative comment about it. We can hardly wait to return!

great location, worked well!
By troyw, 04/12/08
Stayed at Maui Banyan for 7 nights April 2008 in kihei. Had a 2 bedroom condo, full kitchen, w/d. Condo was extremely quiet, and easy to find, literally walked to end of driveway and was at beach. Great place, plenty of space for the six of us. the pools are typical, plain, nothing fancy but clean and well maintained, each pool area had several grills and tables so that was nice too. I would definatly stay again. Not sure what the cost was as it was part of our package we booked, but well worth it. Could not see the beach due to direction of our condo, though higher units faced the right area. Walk took less than 5 minutes to get to nice beach though.

Too much for the basics!!
By Alin Vasilas, 08/24/07
Stayed at the Banyan (Kihei) on a 3 night getaway from nearby island. Room was overpriced for the amenities offered. Standard room for 3 star level should be around $80/night. Arrived before 10PM (time front desk closes). Reception was friendly but unaware were room was located. Room was across the street from dumpster/tennis court, girl said we had pool view. Because of its lock-out set-up, hope to have a next door neighbor that doesn't slam their door a lot. Cleanliness of room was ok, but carpets are not cleaned well. Location of hotel across street from beach and near restaurants and shops make some of its other faults forgiveable. There is no lobby, you have to reserve the tennis court, but the pools and jacuzzi areas were kept neat and orderly. It looks that at one time this was built to be better than what it is now, owned by 13+ condo/time share companies. The parking lot and grandeur of facade surely make it look nice.

aint going back
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/26/06
What I like about the hotel is the location is great. There is alot of shops nearby. Dont have to travel far just to go shopping. What I dislike about the place there was no privacy. Someone was trying to come in our standard room at 2:45 in the morning kept on turning the door knob. The hotel needs to get rid of the awful keys and try using the up to date ones. There was no view from our hotel all we saw was Keawe bushes. The bathroom was not cleaned very well it had mildew on the tiles. When we left Saturday morning to go touring and came back to our hotel in the evening. Our hotel room smelled like popcorn. Yes someone used the mirco and used the bathroom after. What a dissapointing trip we had. We complained to the front desk and in return she said "sorry about that if you want you can call on Monday morning and talk to the office manager". "We have no managers on duty they will be in on Monday". Well I called on Monday there was no response. I even left message to the General manager and gotten no response. How sick is that. We always staed at the Waikiki Banyan and thought the Maui Banyan would be great but we were wrong. Waikiki Banyan is much better then this hotel.

Expected more and was disappointed
By Peter, 08/22/06
We stayed on the 5th floor in a spacious 2br 2ba unit with a partial ocean view. The location is great, across the street from Kamaole 2 beach. The kitchen was in good shape and it was handy to have a washer-drier in the unit. The staff was friendly. Check in was a breeze and they offered an upgrade at a very reasonable price. The kids loved the pool. The downside is that the room gets very hot in the afternoon and the air conditioner is just too wimpy to keep up. Also the decor was dated. The carpets were off-white which really shows the dirt...a poor choice for a complex so close to the beach. The bedding was nothing special. Lastly, since coming home, I've seen Internet access and DVD/VCR listed as Maui Banyan amenities. We didn't have a DVD/VCR and there was no mention of Internet access in the lobby or in our room. (To be fair, we didn't ask.)

Pass on this hotel
By George, 07/15/06
This place was horrible! First off they still use raguler keys on their doors and gave us the wrong keys to our room and couldn't fix them so it was hit or miss whether we could get back into our room right away without having to call the front desk or security. The front desk isn't 24 hours so late at night you have to call security and they're not the sharpest knives in the drawer. Their "pool and jacuzzi" are dirty and the heat doesn't even work in the jacuzzi. There are ants everywhere. Good location but garbage as far as a hotel. It looks like it should be a nice place but I've stayed in motels on the US-Mexico border that smoke this place!

We enjoyed our stay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/10/06
We were there two weeks ago, stayed for one week. Since we have an eighteen months old son, one bedroom condo was very convenient for us. The beach, across of the road is excellent for snorkeling and swimming. We used couple of times the grill. Hotel is close to shops&restaurants. It was a good price compared to other hotels. Rooms are clean. Swimming pool was good. Recommended.

We will be back!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/17/05
Across from a great beach, clean and quiet and bbq's at the pools! Awesome! We loved cooking while sitting in the hot tubs after a long day snorkling and enjoying the sun and sand at the beach! We will definately be back!
