We will Definitely stay here again!
By AprilV, 09/08/08
I decided to stay at the Hotel De Anza becuase they had a package for the Winchester Mystery House as that was our destination for my husband's birthday. The hotel was very affordable, and as part of the package we received 2 tickets to the Winchester Mansion, free food from 10pm-5am, and a free breakfast buffet, which helped save money. The room as nicely appointed with many amenities. The employees there were very friendly and helpful. I had arranged to have a birthday cake brought to our room for my husband as a surprise. They never mentioned it when my husband was around, and exactly when I requested the cake was delivered to our room. It was wonderful. They also offer a complimentary video library; but we chose instead to watch Iron Man because we had not had a chance to see it in the theatre and it was not available on DVD yet. Probably the only thing I did not like was the parking. When I made my reservation it offered for $20 to add valet parking and so I chose to forgo that expense figuring that there would be parking within in walking distance to the hotel. This was not the case and it was not mentioned on their website or when I booked our room. So I wound up paying the additional $20 when we got there. All in all a really nice hotel definitely deserving it's 4 stars.

2 star disguised as 4 star
By R M, 05/28/08
Terrible location. Hard to find. No parking available. Management with bad attitude. No free wireless or internet available in the rooms. Equipment in the rooms does not work. Iron. Romote. Not a 4 star hotel. Extended stay is better than De Anza. Incompetent management.

What's not to like?
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/18/07
What's the deal with employees that grin, not just smile, but grin. Once I got over the idea that perhaps my fly was down I found it's just a custom at the De Anza to enjoy life. Can't say I've had such a nice stay at any hotel for the past few years. Couple the service, value, location and art deco charm and you have a winner. Just love this place....especially the midnight free buffet. Yum

very nice hotel..cute. very nice location right in the San Jose downtown. I would definitely go back there. I was impressed with the ambiance in my room. Very bright and cozy, yet inexpensive. The aircon though is noisy.

This hotel is garbage
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/19/07
I dont know how they got this place listed as a 4 star hotel, it is a 2 at best. No wonder they were the cheapest "4" star hotel on Priceline. And whatever your hotel bill is for this place add 25 bucks a day to it because you have to pay for parking , which they conveniently leave out in there description. The rooms are about as big as a large closet, the tub is right next to the toliet, which is a great view while your taking a bath. The neighborhood looks a war-zone and you can't open your windows at night because it's so loud around there. But at least I got to sit in the hot-tub....oh wait they don't have one there. A real tell-tell sign of a "4" star hotel, no pool.

Great rooms, terrible manager
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/31/07
Loved the rooms. Very peaceful and beautiful. The pantry is nice as is the different creative packages they have. The customer service is very impersonal though. Especially the Reservations Manager, name starts with an R. She gives you this fake attitude like you're important to her, but you can tell deep down she wished you weren't there. A total fake. Overall, it's in a great location and lots of fun. If you can get past the managements attitudes, you will have a good time.

I love this hotel
By Veronica, 04/26/07
My daughter and I went with my husband on his buisness trip and we had a wonderful time. All the staff was great with my 2 year old and we never got any dirty looks for having a young child in a fancy place. They have free DVD's and VHS tapes at the front desk. WE often took advantage of thier "RAid our pantry room" on the second floor, again it was free. They have free cookies and fruit at the front desk. I was able to check my email in thier buisness center. The staff there were again wonderful and accepting of my small child. The only think I would advise against was the breakfast. It wasn't exceptional and there are other places around to get breakfast. The main restaurant is great for lunch and supper.

location was perfect
By travel qa, 02/28/07
The location was perfect and the staff went out of their way to assist us with information on ski packages, tours and shopping. The service was great! The complimentary breakfast was a real treat and a money saver. We met other guests from all over the United States and enjoyed visiting with them.

Great Packages, Nice location & Awesome "Pantry"!
By Jenny4, 01/16/07
My boyfriend and I stayed here for our 3 year anniversary and were very impressed with the amenities! For $169 (The Anniversary Package) we had a nice king size bedroom on the 9th floor, with a great view of Almaden & Santa Clara St. Our package also included: a delicious breakfast (eggs, potatoes, sausage, bacon, assorted pastries, breads, fruit platters, mini crepes with cheese), champagne and a small box of 4 chocolate truffles (waiting in our room) and the "Raid Our Pantry" for free late night sandwiches, cookies and drinks. The shower wasn't that powerful and take caution when stepping in/out of the tub, because there's a decorative tiled slab that raises the tub about 1 foot. The beds are fairly comfortable, but a little firm for my taste. The room also had a DVD player, so I recommend bringing a favorite movie in case you don't like what's on TV. The hotel location is great: walk 2-3 blocks toward highway 87 and you are at the HP Pavillion or walk 2-3 blocks toward San Jose State and you are smack dab in the middle of downtown San Jose with Starbucks, San Pedro Square and multiple restaurants at your finger tips. If you are staying for one Saturday night, you can park overnight at the San Pedro garage for free, otherwise valet and paid parking is available.

This is our new place to say.
By n2shkspr, 03/31/06
Our son attends college at Santa Clara University, but nice hotels have been hard to come by, especially close to campus. On our fifth attempt, we stayed at De Anza and it was beautiful, clean and close to campus. Stay away from the second floor street side on weekends, apparently it is a big cruising street and the base from every car throbs through the windows late into the night. VERY ANNOYING. Parking is tough, if you don't valet, the street is the only option. Free at night, but start ticketing 6am. Valet is courteous, but call down to get them to go get your car before you go down. They are busy running to get cars of other guests and you'll find yourself alone with no one to talk to about getting yours. Give yourself about 15 mins. or so, more in the AM during the week. Finally, a place to be, the search is over. We will definitely go back.
