Doubletree Times Square
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/30/11
It's the third time we've visited New York and the hotels we've stayed have always been very cramped and small, but this hotel was absolutely fantastic the rooms were so spacious and to have a lounge and separate bedroom was great, both rooms had large tvs and it also had a huge shower and bathroom. There are six lifts to each floor that ran like clock work. The staff were extremely helpful. If anyone is thinking of going to New York this would be the hotel that I would highly recommend. A great hotel couldn't ask for better

Very good accommodations but the food is awful
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/23/11
We stayed here June 13 to 21, 2011 for a family vacation. The hotel is built well and overall very quiet especially for its chaotic location. The room was spacious and clean. At ground level you step into a small security lobby with a guard on duty at all times. After 8:00 p.m. you must show a key card to enter the hotel. The lobby is on the third floor. There is a bar/lounge area here if you want to sit and visit. Otherwise you move on to the elevators which take you to your rooms. Inside, the hotel is calm and welcoming. Our first morning we ate breakfast at the hotel. It was our last breakfast here. The food was OK but the prices were out of this world. $15.00 will get you 2 eggs. Want some meat with that? Another $6 to $8 dollars. Want some toast? Another $6.00. Yes, this is Manhattan, but $100 for breakfast for 3 people is still over the top. We ate a couple of blocks away the rest of our stay and got more food for half the price ~ all very good. We ordered room service twice. Both times were huge disappointments. The food was terrible! The first time we ordered a chicken quesadilla and club sandwiches. Fries were floppy and miserable tasting. Sandwiches were barely passable. Quesadilla was little better than fast food warmed up. The second time we succumbed to room service, because we were just too tired to leave the hotel, we ordered pizzas. They were mostly bread with a bit of sauce and sprinkle of cheese. Very unappetizing and dry. Add poor food to the high cost and it was highly unsatisfactory. Location is great and central to much of the city's transportation. It is right in the middle of the theater district, so you are never more than a couple of blocks from any of the theaters. The concierge we worked with was very knowledable and helpful; she helped us find the best options for the sights we wanted to see. If crowds of people get to you after a while, staying here will get old. Every day 500,000 people pass through these two or three blocks and it often felt as though they were all right outside the hotel doors. Every time we left the hotel we were plunged into throngs of people trying to get somewhere, hawking wares & tickets & transportation, or the oversized crowds waiting to buy half-priced tickets for Broadway. Nice, spacious and quiet as the hotel was, I doubt we'd stay here again due to the craziness of the location.

We will be back!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/22/10
We had a very pleasant stay here last month. Suite was clean, quiet, and spacious and perfect for families -- comfortably accommodated 5 of us. Location plus - steps away from all the Times Square attractions and theatres; location con - in the heart of Times Square, you are instantly in a crowd the moment you step out the door. However, our 12 year old twins could visit the McDonald's almost next door and from the 2nd floor dining room window keep and eye on me while I stood on line for discounted B'way theatre tickets at the TKTS Booth directly across the street from hotel.

Terrible Service from their Accounting Department
By Todd, 8/2/10
While we enjoyed the stay at this hotel, we have been disputing a bogus charge on our credit card that they insisted is not their problem but Yahoo's. Yahoo clearly charged us the correct amount on both their email invoice and the credit card statement but their Accounting Department says otherwise. She was zero help and even said that they charged us because our credit card declined!

Don't go if you need internet service in your room
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/13/10
Room was very nice and staff were very friendly. Location is excellent. However, the wireless internet service in the room was very spotty. It would drop my connection frequently, and was down roughly 30% of the time. I tried a wireless bridge supplied by the hotel, and also spent about 1/2 hour on the phone with their tech support service. The tech support person finally told me that I must be in a room with a poor signal. BTW, the wireless in the lobby worked fine. I recommend this hotel if you have a blackberry or IPOD, but if you need in-room wireless, stay away.

Pleasantly surprised
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/3/09
After calling the night before to ask for early check in, I was dissappointed that our room was not ready. Our room was finally ready about 3pm wich is also the regular check in time, but we didn't actually check in until 7pm because we did somesight seeing first. I was happy that they "upgraded" us from a 2 double bed one bth to the jr suite on the 14thfl! the view was amazing and my 4 teenage girls felt like celebs. Thanks

We loved it here, it is close to everything. This was the first time my family had been to NYC and can not wait to go back. I have highly recommended this hotel to all my friends. It was definately worth the time and money.
