Description

Channings Classic is a townhouse hidden along the tree-lined crescent South Learmonth Gardens, away from the hubbub of the citys West End, yet only a ten-minute leisurely stroll away. The welcoming hallway has comfortable armchairs beside a glowing fire, a chiming clock on the mantelpiece, and everywhere a real sense of tradition. Channings restaurant has been awarded two AA rosettes for its fine cuisine, whilst the vibrant Ochre Vita wine bar offers Mediterranean food and wines. All rooms have en suite facilities and come with a full Scottish breakfast in the morning.

Had a great room and the view outside was spectacular! THe desk made us feel welcome and we talked to them everytime we left the hotel. Only thing i would suggest is booking this at SweetHotelDeals. N e t

Enjoyable place to stay!

We visited the Channings in July 2007 and found it to be a warm, friendly, comfortable place. We spent time in the bar, watching the British Open and the staff was extremely cordial and very helpful. The food was excellent and we would highly recommend the Channings to anyone who will be traveling to Edinburgh.

Great for our family.

Excellent hotel. Friendly staff and excellent ammenities. The internet access as well as the plasma screen TV certainly made my husband and children happy. They had a family room which is difficult to find anywhere in Europe. There is no parking but we had no trouble finding a place on the quiet neighborhood street. I love to travel, but hate hotels and am hard to please, so I would definately recommend this hotel for anyone headed to Edinburgh.

We Loved This Place!

My husband and I did a 2 week tour of Great Britain in 03. We spent 2 nights in Edinburgh we will never forget thanks to Channings. You cannot go wrong with this choice! Great, huge, comfy rooms. Ladies wait until you see the bathroom! We had a grand time e-mailing all of our friends from the FREE internet service in our room. I cannot say enough! Book this place or you will be sorry!!!

Very Comfortable

I have stayed there a couple of times on business. My first visit 02' I was suprised to find the room had a seperate library with internet access, a very well appointed bath, and a very comfortable bedroom. # 14 I believe. The restaurant and bar was just across the hall. Sat at the bar and had a great conversaton with Stephen who ran the restaurant at the time(I ran into him at their sister hotel The Bonham in 04). The hotel and the people there make you feel at home when your on the road. The second visit 03'I had a smaller room on an upper floor but also very nice.

Elegant and comfortable

We stayed here a few years ago and had a lovely stay. Our room overlooked the back garden and was very comfortable. It's located in a very quiet area and is a townhouse hotel that used to be the private residence of the explorer, Shackleton.

Delightful, charming and comfortable!

Channings is a delightful and charming hotel that is made up of several old townhouses. It is located on a cobblestone street slightly west of the city, in a quiet residential area. It does require a several minute walk into town on foot,which may be a drawback for some people, but to us it was worth it to be staying in such a lovely area. The room we stayed in was very comfortable and roomy enough to nicely accommodate three of us. It was one of the "superior rooms". The furnishings and decor gave the room a charming homey feeling and our room overlooked the gardens below. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. The highlight of our stay was the luxury tasting dinner at the Channings Restaurant which consisted of a seven course very delicious gourmet meal in a lovely dining room. If our travels ever take us back to Edinburgh, Scotland I would be happy to stay at Channings again.
