Bel Arco Resort, Bull Shoals

We stayed at Bel Arco over the July 4th weekend of 2005. We were very disappointed with the facilities. Our room had bugs, cobwebbs, and the carpet hadn't seen a vacuum in a while. There were holes in the walls that had been patched and did not match the rest of the wall, as well as rotten wood around the bathroom sink. Other than that, the room looked pretty much like the pictures on their website. The playground looked nothing like the website. The wood timbers that surround the play equipment were rotten and falling apart. The grass was a foot high and full of weeds. The metal parts were rusted. The tennis court was cracked with grass growing through it and the net was torn and sagging. The resturarant food was good, but they only had 1 waitress. So, both times we ate there it took over 45 minutes to get our food. The hotel staff was nice, but the maids just walked around with cigarettes in their mouths and were not friendly or helpful. Other things: 1 of our towells looked like someone used it to clean their engine about 5 years ago. Our door had a chain lock, but no bracket to chain it to. There was no ice in the ice machine and no ice bucket to put it in. There were bugs in our luggage when we got home!
