It was wonderful!

I arrived at the hotel in the late afternoon, after an extremely tiring and very long journey. I discovered a very warm welcome at the reception desk, and a very cosy bedroom for one person, with a sparkling clean shower room! There was satellite televison in the bedroom for CNN, and a computer for your use on the first floor, which was extremely useful first thing in the morning to check emails. I was hungry when I arrived at the hotel, and all I wanted to do was eat and fall into bed, and didn't want to have to go looking for a restaurant. And there, right off of reception you could walk into the restaurant, which was always open and the menu was terrific. There was a well catered breakfast bar in the morning, with freshly baked bread, coffee, tea or chocolate was brought to you at the table. I ate every meal there, breakfast, lunch and dinner, because I looked around at the other restaurants, and found that this had everything I needed and more. I stayed at the Hotel Adler for 4 nights and can't wait to return. I honestly can't say enough about this small, well serviced 3-star hotel!

Excellent choice

It is very well located in relation to the train station and the old town part of the city. There are a lot of good restaurants near by. The breakfast is good and included. The restaurant is also good for a quick, good, cheap (for Switzerland) lunch, however dinner is very over priced. The staff is professional and the rooms are a decent size for Europe. Our biggest complaint was that the refrigerator in the rooms are really large ice coolers and not true electric refrigerators. While this is good for the environment, we didn't feel we could keep milk and other perishables cold enough to be safe for our toddler. Also, I can imagine it being quite noisy if you want to keep the windows open (and there is no A/C). All and all we were very pleased.

Very satisfied with our stay

The Hotel Adler was very clean, a good value (for Zurich!) and staff was helpful. There was fruit in our room and chocolates on our pillows which were nice perks.The only negative was that one piece of fruit was going bad. The room was small but nothing out of the ordinary for Europe. We had room for everything. There was even a fridge in the room. Bathroom was clean and modern. They had good quality bath products and a great shower. The location was excellent. We walked and saw the old town and enjoyed supper and drinks outside at night.It was not noisy on the night we stayed. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Loud and not so friendly

The hotel is in a great location. The down side is at night, it is very loud and the noise last until 2:00 - 4:00AM in the morning. One one day i came back to find out the staff had moved my belongings into a different room then that which was givin me on check in. When i asked about this at the front desk......i was treated as if i should have known and it was no big deal. they were not very polite at all

Just Perfect

To keep it brief, everything -- price, staff (service and friendliness), location -- was exactly as I would expect a hotel to offer. Highly recommended.

Silent night, inside

We were there during the Zurich Feste in July 2004. After a delay of a couple of hours, we arrived very tired in the hotel and although it was very noisy outside, we could enjoy our sleep without any disturbance. Food was good, especially the fondue. Lots of bars and wine-stubes in the neighbourhood. A nice 10 minutes walk from the Hauptbahnhof.

Quaint and in the perfect location. Old town Zurich. The restarant is awsome for genuine swiss dishes. It's were the Swiss eat and is booked solid each weekend evening. Rooms are small but clean. It's a bit noisy because of the location.Would definately stay again.
