Drake's Motel, Schroon Lake

Drakes motel is nice, family friendly, but the house keeper isnt a house keeper. My family and i visited in late august, nice location, close to the lake for family fun on the lake. The rooms could use a better house keeper. Would love to come back, hopefully when we do the house keeper will be better.

We really wanted to stay at Drake's, but they have a 2-night minimum on the weekends. This struck me as greedy and unwelcoming, and I told them I'd take my business elsewhere. We went to the Maple Leaf, which was a great deal, super clean and we will recommend that place instead.

I liked Drakes Motel because it was the cleanest place in town. The house keeper was really clean. It was a really family friendly place to be. It was so convient to have the restarunt on the premices. The food was awsome also.

After reading many rave reviews and some friends echoed the sentiment, we joined our friends for a much-anticipated Sunday brunch. The motel looks charming, but we drove 40 minutes to try the brunch. At $7.99 I was prepared that it wouldn't be a brunch at the Ritz, but was not prepared for the lack of available portions at the buffet. After 30 minutes, no biscuits came out for the gravy after several requests were made. All of the food was prepared elsewhere so basically all they had to do was warm stuff up. There were less than 30 people there at 10:30am, and the food quality, what was even available was quite poor. I would expect a free breakfast after a stay at a chain hotel to be the same, but not for a place that had rave reviews. Local people confirmed that management has changed. So don't expect the old Drake experience!

We had a pleasantly decorated, but tiny room. Having a restaurant on site was convenient, but we didn't expect the traffic noise. It was very difficult to sleep. We were expecting a sleepy, littly mountain town, but it sounded like we were at a truck stop.

Paul and Adrienne LeBlanc run an excellent hotel and restaurant in beautiful Schroon Lake, NY. Although new owners, they are an energetic and friendly couple who welcome everyone whether new or returning families to their comfortable abode. The rooms are clean and tastefully decorated as well as spacious and accomodating. Having spent a romatic weekend for two to a ten day family get away I must say it couldn't have been better. And pet friendly too! Paul is an excellent chef and the following at the restaurant reflects it!!!!! I would recommend and have recommended this hotel to friends and family.

I have eaten at The Drake more times than I can count, and have stayed in their motel twice. The meals are excellent (worth a trip from anywhere) and the motel was immaculate and very comfortable. On the porch outside the room was adirondack chairs and it was so peaceful. I noticed that they have a brand new patio around the pool and the pool itself looks new this year. Whenever I am in New York State, I go to The Drake. The new owners are so nice and they seem eager to please any way they can. Great vacation!
