El Castell Motel, Monterey

Budget-friendly with super clean, comfortable and recently renewed bedrooms. Parking, Wi-fi and a simple breakfast included. Excellent choice. One experience with a member of the staff was not pleasant, but it didn't affect the overall impression.

me and my family stayed two nights and had a wonderful stay the rooms are clean the staff treats you like family the free breakfast had alot of diffent food to chose from

El Castell is a newly remodeled motel with very comfortable and clean rooms. It is a good location with easy access to all the local places to visit in Monterey. We would be glad to visit there again! It may be helpful to have some clocks in the facility.

Stayed here this last weekend and it was a very nice hotel. Will plan to stay here again.

El Castell is a clean motel and our room was comfortable and a good size. The breakfast was very mediocre, but I didn't expect more. There's a Denny's across the street! It was a perfectly fine place to stay while exploring Monterey.

After my stay on Nov 7 2009 I filed a formal complaint with The Monterey County Health Dept. I did not notice the beg bugs until 5:00am at which time I promptly contacted the manager only to be told : I am sleeping it will have to wait until the morning.: I was bitten several times on my arms neck and head.. Though the manager agreed to refund me through travel velocity. I have yet to receive any refund as promise. On Nov 16 2009 I received this message from the Monterey Health Dept Per our discussion, I was not able to view the video but I have been in contact with the manager of the El Castell Motel. I have instructed him to call me once repairs and changes have been address I will be inspecting room 211 prior to public use. He acknowledged that there were bed bug in this room and has closed the room. The facility has removed the mattress, carpets deep cleaned, and continue with sanitation and maintenance. Very good choice if you need a clean and inexpensive motel near the fairgrounds.We would stay there again. I do wish the pool had been open, but the Pacific Ocean is only a 20 min. walk away.

The room we got smelled terrible and the door enrties and doors were dirty! they looked as if they had never been clean! the smell was unbearable so we asked to change rooms. The second room was better, just averge. One of the beds was extreamy hard, and they have this marble like tile all in the enry way to the bathroom and all inside the bathroom. This results in a very slippery floor once someone showers. We had to put towels on the whole bathroom floor. Also it if extreamy cold so imagine getting up in the night to go use the bathroom and stepping on that!If you want a plain average room that may or maynot be good, this is your hotel. I would not stay again though!

don't ask for extra pillows, because they don't have any. When I had called the office for 1 more pillow, they were stunned and didn't even know what I was talking about. The rooms at motel 6 are bigger than the rooms they have here. This is not a 2 diamond hotel. The people next to us kept slamming their door open/close and were very noisy, we ended up checking out a few hours later. Unsatisfied.
