Nice Hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/12/09
The hotel is very nice and in a great location. Service was very good, beds were great, but the breakfast is very very expensive and wasn't very good. Not worth ordering to the room. Overall very nice hotel.

Comfy bedding
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/27/07
Lovely old hotel.Friendly, attentive staff. The comforter felt like home..very clean, and fluffy. Nice bathroom. Cozy robes. Very clean and comfortable. There was no problem getting a cab on the rainy day I was there. They were on the job! I was pleased with my stay.

best hotel we have stayed in for under 300.00
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/30/06
It was such a surprise to have a room that was large enough that we didn't have to step over each other to get to the bathroom and that actually had 2 chairs. My husband was happy to have a bathroom with a large counter that would hold all of our toiletries. Just having been redone, everything is crisp and clean. A great hotel. PS The bar upstairs and the lobby downstairs were great for meeting our family for drinks before dinner. PSS Great restaurant

Loved every minute
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/18/05
Stayed for four nights late Nov 2005 as part of a group,3 couples in all and we all loved it.The renovations are well and truly complete now and the hotel has a very stylish appeal. The rooms were small but very clean and the beds so comfy after a hard day walking and seeing all the sights! The hotel is in a great location and plenty of delis and coffee places nearby..you cant go wrong for breakfast. We found the staff on reception very helpful and the conciergetoo, they both told us of nice places to eat at night. We would like to go back again as there are plenty of places we didnt get to see this time and I would definitely stay at this hotel again,no need to look anywhere else.this one has everything you could need!Hope you enjoy the big apple as much as we did!

The best value for the time
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/22/05
The Carlton Hotel on Madison Avenue was an amazing stay. We stayed while it was under renovation, and it was still beautiful and highly accomodating. They will switch your rooms around, if need be, as we found out. A+

This hotel has the best staff. I want to thank Tara and John for being so wonderful. I would be lost in the city without them. I am definately going to come back.

Great Location, Excellent Accomodations
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/24/05
First, let's start with location, location, location. If you're visiting NYC for the first time and have a lot of ground to cover, the Carlton is fairly centrally located in the city. It is within easy walking distance to Times Square, Macy's and the serious shops that surround it, close to 5th Avenue, Empire State Building and countless other points of interest. The central location makes it a great launch point for anywhere else in the city you'd like to travel and is convenient to the subways. If you're brave enough to drive around New York City, there is valet parking available as well as a lot next door. We were also fortunate enough to find free street parking right across from the hotel twice during our three days there. The hotel itself is undergoing (at least when I was there in mid-April 05) some serious renovations and because of that, the temporary lobby is extremely cramped. There is also scaffolding surrounding the lower part of the building which puts a serious dent in the aesthetic beauty of the building. Currently the hotel does not have a restaurant or room service of its own yet but there are plenty of surrounding eateries that will deliver to your room. Onto the rooms - beautifully appointed with extremely soft sheets and comfy-but-not-too-squishy mattress and featherbed. The bathrooms are spacious and covered with marble floors and shower stall and brass fixtures. The bathtub is separate from the shower. The bathrooms feature better than usual complimentary toiletries. The bedroom we were in was a little small on space considering the price and rating of the hotel but that is easily overlooked with such fine furnishings and comfortable bed. There are personalized guide books in the rooms which not only give you the address and hours of operations for major attractions but also give you itinerary for different ways to experience the City. The hotel staff was friendly and accommodating although there was one very specific conceirge who was short on service. I would definitely return to the hotel but not until the renovations are finished.

A gem of a value in NYC. I have stayed at the St Regis, Hyatt, The Plaza, etc. and on the room itself this is best for your $$$. I will come back at that great rate of $189/nt. Front desk gave a great recommedation for dinner. thanks Jayda!Excellent experience!
