Super 8 Motel Shakopee, Shakopee

I stayed here the night of my wedding. As I was not able to check in, my parents checked into my room for me. I had the room held under my card number and they used their card to check in. I check my bank account only to find out they had charge my card (and it posted) and they charged my parents card (and it posted). I have now been fighting with them for over a week and still have not had my account credited for this charge. The front desk person I talked to yelled at me and said she told me to talk to another front desk lady. I told her she never said anything about talking to another person an that the mamager was suppose to call me. Again, she yelled at me. As far as I am concerned I am the customer and I should not be getting yelled at for their mistake. I should not have to talk to another front desk person when it is the manager that needs to credit my account. I will never stay here again, nor will I recommend it to my friends, family or co-workers. the Best Western may be more expensive, but I guess you get what you pay for. I have figured out again that you get what you pay for. As I can see they want money, are not willing to say they were wrong and do not care how their customers are treated.

My husband and I decided to stay here for oyr honeymoon on 8/13/11. We chose super 8 for its low price and convenient distance from valley fair. We arrived and were immediately disappointed with the place. The halls were dark and creepy and when we walked huny the room there was a very strong and horrible odor in the room. We sprayed some body spay to try and help with the smell and tried to get past it. Later on we wanted to relax in the hot tub, when we went down to the pool area there were 10 people in the hot tub as well as kids even though the sign clearly stated a Max of 6 people and no one under 12 permitted. Owwy talked to the receptionist and she did nothing about the over crowding or kids, only said she would call our room when it cleared out. After waiting an hour and a half we went back down (with only 30 minutes time left to be in the pool area) and the situation had not changed. We finally decided against the hot tub and went back to our room. We got in bed, reluctantly because the bedding seemed very old, worn out, and unclean. After being in bed for a while both my husband and I began getting very itchy all over. Finally after about an hour we couldn't take anymore and decided to shower and leave. We told the staff, later found out he was the manager and owner, there we would not stay here and wanted a refund. We were told that unless we could show him actual bugs they would do nothing. Both my husband and I had hives and welted red marks on our faces, necks backs, legs, ect. The manager still refused to give us a refund and told us not to blame them because we must have had some kind of allergic reaction that caused it to happen and it wasn't their fault. We had the worst service at this hotel that either of us has ever seen and will never stay at a super 8 again.

We had planned to stay at this hotel over Labor Day weekend 2009. Due to a scheduling error when making reservations the reservations were made for the wrong weekend. When we called to correct the situation the owner/manager was unhelpful and admitted to not following his own policies and refused to assist in resolving the situation for us. In the end we had to pay for two rooms we never used, full rate. In my opinion this service is poor at best.

Small rooms with obnoxious and loud heater/ac. Mold ring in tub which they tried to hide with paint. Pool was gross and smelly, water green and salty, made the kids hair gummy. No one under 14 allowed in hot tub or $50 fine. Asked for more towels since can't bring towels out of pool area and lady at desk was unfriendly and rude. Breakfast bar was not like website photos, had cheerios and half a stiff cinnamon roll. Didn't have real sheets on bed, just flat sheets laid over the top of the bed. Bathroom was so tiny, when I knelt beside tub to wash the gummy feeling from the kids hair, the toilet was right there and in the way. Not worth the money that they charge!

This wasn't such a bad hotel. The service was great, very friendly. The rooms are showing their age. The pool area is small but adequate. I stayed in a Hilton that could learn a lot from this place. It was three times the price and more used and abused. It's hard to knock a place when you are treated well, and leave with money left in your pocket.
