Price is right, rooms are clean and terrific amenities. Beds are fabulous! Great location. Really no downside from my perspective

Overall a good stay
By You tell me, 8/27/09
Easy check-in, good internet connection, bed was not too small, no bed bugs, carpet was clean, bathroom was clean, did not smell bad, helpful staff, lent us a screwdriver that we needed to fix something, allowed us to push our check out time from 11 to noon, lobby seemed very fancy, includes pool and sauna, and continental breakfast which was okay, nothing exceptional

mixed feelings
By Amberg, 9/8/08
I reserved 2 double bed room, confirmed twice, the last time two days before our arrival. Next day they call to say reserved room not available, I had already canceled another hotel. Apology was minimal, did get a reduced rate when I pushed a little. Breakfast buffet was nearly gone when we arrived, a few minutes later staff seen running back in after an apparent break. On the flip side, the location is great, free parking and the rate is fair. Staff could use some training.

BED BUGS
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/29/08
on my visit in june i stayed on one of the upper floors.I noticed when i woke up i had little red bites on my face and neck.I pulled back the sheets and saw little black bugs.I told one of the housekeepers about my findings and they seemed like they really didn't care. The coffee pot in the bathroom is lovely,is that urine stains?this should not be considered a hotel at all.The rooms seem a little prehistoric. The bathrooms look like five year olds cleaned it.

Great Value and Location
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/13/08
I've stayed here a few times over the last 3 years, most recently in April 2008. The hotel has been updated a bit over the last year, and is very accomodating. Staff was helpful and friendly on my last stay. Parking is convenient. The hotel location is great for access to the campus - State Street, Kohl Center, and a nice walk to Camp Randall. Only 1/2 block from State Street, so plenty of dining and entertainment. Rooms, while cozy, are clean and have internet access, wireless or plugging in. The free continental breakfast is very adequate. I always try to get a room here on my stays because of the price/location, and often cannot due to high demand.

never again
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/1/08
the staff does not know how to run a hotel. the rooms donot have air so the rooms get real stuffy. This is not a hotel that someone that stays in hotels on a regular bases should consider. this place is run by kids that don't care about the client

so and so.
By apple, 4/11/08
The customer service could be nicer and smile a little. If you already checked out and need to make a phone call they don't help you. They tell me I can't call from their phones and there are not public phone inside or outside unless you walk at the U. The room and bathroom are small but cozy. the breakfast was free and good. You can park your car in their parking lot no later 5 p.m after checking out.

You get what you pay for
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/30/07
I've heard that the building actually used to be a dorm. That explains the size and the excellent location. The beds were not double but not twin...somewhere in between. That makes the rooms a bit cozy for more than 2 people. The bathrooms are small and worn but not actually dirty...just old-looking. The rest of the facilities were nice. I didn't think anything there was dirty. The breakfast was awesome. Eggs, bacon, muffins and pastries, waffles, coffee. I don't know what the other people who wrote on here were expecting cuz I've rarely seen a continental breakfasts better than this one. In sum. It's not the nicest hotel I've ever stayed at but the price is right and the location is great. It's really small so if you plan to hang out a lot at your room find another place but if you just need an affordable place to sleep within walking distance of a ton of stuff then it's fine.

Terrific modest accommodations
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/12/07
We stayed at the Lowell Center while visiting Madison with a potential student. Although we haven't seen the lobby renovations, when we stayed there it was something like a dorm, with admittedly modest appearance, but we liked everything about it. The staff was extremely helpful, kept our bags for us when the room wasn't ready. We had a ton to see on campus, and it was very convenient. Very close to the admissions for an early appointment, and easy walking to the wonderful restaurants on State Street, and for the bus back to Chicago. We are going back there to deliver my son in the Fall of 2007, so we feel it was a good luck sort of place. Although it is not elegant shmelegant, it's affordable rates may permit us to visit more often, and spend more on delicious meals with our son and his new friends. The breakfast, by the way gave you every choice possible from the Dairy State, and made us feel very welcome with home made waffles and strawberries.
