The Salisbury YMCA Of Hong Kong, Kowloon City

We have just returned from a 3 night stay at YMCA Salisbury in March 2008. We a family of 4 (inclusive of 2 young boys) enjoyed our trip to Hong Kong tremendously and we know that our stay in YMCA boosted that enjoyment very much. The service is very pleasant, the room is very clean and new. It was even comparable to other 5 star hotels that we stayed in before. We have no complaints AT ALL. The location is simply unbeatable. So close to the MTR station and also to the ferry terminal which we used constantly to get around. We will certainly return to the same hotel if we are there in HK again. Thanks YMCA Salisbury!

The things I liked about The Salisbury is the location.And the service.Recently I went to the hotel and we ordered a harbor view room.The view from was spectacular. You could see all the buildings in Hong Kong from our hotel! overall the hotel was excellent!

I stayed in this hotel with a friend for a week back in January. The location can not be beat. The staff speaks English, and is very helpful. The rooms were very clean, and the staff was friendly. Our first room didnt have a view of the harbor, but you could see some cool buildings in T.S.T. We went Macau a few days and came back to the YMCA. This second stay we got a room with a partial view of the harbor, which was amazing. The price can not be beat! It was around 1/5 of the price of the Peninsula which is right next door! I would rather save my money and spend it in the awesome shops around HK. The Star Ferry is a block away; as well as the harbor which provides one of the best city skyline views in the world. Also lots of good food shops right down the street. For the price, you can not beat this hotel in Hong Kong.

You can't beat the Salisbury for location and value. The harbour views were spectacular. Go for the breakfast and stuff yourself silly to get the most out of it! There's quite a nice pool area but none of the staff down there seemed to speak very good English. The rooms are quite small by world hotel standards - I wonder how Americans find them! But I'm hoping to stay there again when I travel next year. TIP: Don't wait til the last day of your trip to go up the Peak, the views over HK are amazing.

I like the location, it's within walking distance from the places we wanted to visit. The place is very neat and the staff are friendly and very efficient.

It was my first trip into Hong Kong. And I was only doing a lay over in Hong Kong. My flight was late, and I arrived during peak evenning traffic. So I didn't have very high expectations about staying at the YMCA. But as I checked in, I was glad the staff spoke exellent english, and was very polite. On my way up to my room, I noticed that there were many business people guests, as well as families. By the time I was going up the elevator I completely forgot I was at the YMCA. This was a very nice hotel. The room was better than I expected. They really went out of their way to make the room very comfortable. The view from the room was excellent! I dropped by the restaurant for a late dinner. The food was excellent! And they take credit cards! So no problem with having to have Hong Kong currency. After dinner I went out for a walk. The hotel is right across the street from the water front. You can't get any closer than that! So it was great to be so close to the hotel, and close to the harbor. The harbor is something anyone traveling to Hong Kong just have to see. There are tons of shops on the other side of the hotel. I have to say that I had a blast checking out all the different shops in such a short time. I plan to travel to Hong Kong again, and I planning to return to the YMCA. No hotel is closer to the ferry, and the harbor. And the staff are really nice and friendly people.

Great Location, supurb value, very clean, great for thse on a tight budget, many extras, safe. walking dstance to main shopping areas, Star Ferry, other tourist attractions, and restaurants

Excellent value, location service and cleanlness. Will stay in the salisbury YMCA again on my next visit go Kowloon. I highly recommend this esgtablishment.

We stayed in the Salisbury for the second week of Dec 2005. The Salisbury Hotel is a great hotel. It is in a great location with qucik access to the subway and ferry. If you just feel like taking a stroll you can walk one street over to Nathan Road where you can find all kinds of chinese and international restaurants. I have a family of four. My wife and I with a 3 year old and a one year old. We stayed in a family suite which was more than enough room for us. The hotel provided a baby cot free of charge. The room was separted into a living room with a pull out couch and a bedroom with a king size bed ( an actual american size king size bed). The dining room at the hotel restaurant was delicious. They offered a buffet with great food. The staff was friendly. The price was great. We had a blast in Hong Kong. We wnet to Hong Kong Disneyland, which is nice by the way and the kids had a great time. The only negative thing about the hotel is that it was time for them to do some painting and change the carpet. Other than that I would stay there again and I highly recommend this hotel to families on a budget. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask me. We are planning our trip for next year now.

Don't think that this is a typical YMCA. If you want a great place to stay at an affordable price, this is it! Very clean, a few minutes from the subway and the Star Ferry terminal. In the middle of the Tsim Sha Tsui shopping district. Very close to great restaurants (try the lunch-time dim sums in the restaurant under the performing arts center across the street). Ask for a harbor view room above the 11th floor for the most spectacular views of Hong Kong harbor. (If you're below 11, you're looking at the performing arts center.) Room rate includes temporary membership in the YMCA, which allows use of the pool and gym.
