Fackelmann Hotel, Nuremberg

This is a little botique hotel right outside of the Old City. It's a few blocks walk from the Main Train Station! Super clean rooms, friendly staff. NOTE: elevator does not go to top floor, so you get off on 4 and stairs to 5 but that's where I stay. Lowest price rooms up there...cut into roof. In winter you open the window to a wonderfull view, and can reach out and make a snowball from snow off the slate shingles. Claudia (owner) will see to your every need. Breakfast is typical German hotel fare buffet, plentiful and delicious. 7-11 type gas station across the street open till about midnight with lots of snacks/sodas/chips etc. Short walk to oldest Brautwurst rest. in world. Also short walk to GREAT Chinese rest!!! I have friends in this town, but try to arrive a couple of days early and just sort of "hibernate" here. Great for mind and body! Train museum also 1/2 way between hauptbahnhof and hotel. JohnR
