Nice but if you don't have a car please read..
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/18/11
The rooms were very nice and well-apportioned. Our company was promised that there would be many taxis and quick service to a nearby metro station. Therefore no one got a car. Neither was true. We waitied 40 minutes for a taxi that never came and then had to wait 30 mins for the shuttle to take us to the metro. The reason they gave was because it was rainning. We were late for meetings and the staff really didn't seem to care. I will not stay there again.

Very unsatisfied with our stay!
By Monasmle, 8/2/09
The room is very clean and well managed, but the staff is disrespectful, and deceitful. We came down for what we thought was complimentary breakfast, only to find out after we had been seated and ate, that breakfast would be $15/person. There was no sign, or menu, or any indication that breakfast would not be included or what the price would be. When we brought that up to the weaitress she said she could do nothing more about it, when we talked to the manager she told us that there was a menu on our table clearly stating the price. We told her we seated ourselves, because the waitress was busy on the phone and there was no menu at the table we sat down...the manager argued with me that the menu was there stating the price and she would not reimburse us. On our elevator ride up after breakfast there were other customers that also complained about not knowing that breakfast was not included in the room. The hotel was fine, but they will nickel and dime you, so watch out!

Probably will not return.
By Michael, 5/7/09
The chain is oriented to the business person, but even as a gold member I was placed in a room right under the same room where construction was ongoing all week. The rooms next to, above and under should have been blocked off for the week due to excessive noise; as a result the impression I'm left with is the money is worth more to the chain than my needs as a frequent customer. Aside from that, the rooms have no refrigerator or microwave (a real loss if you're on the road and working from a hotel room). In truth, any of three other hotels on the same road have these amenities. The Courtyard staff is helpful, friendly and professional, and the cleaning staff is top shelf - but if you're working out of the room, you'd find better options right on Eisenhower Ave. Will probably opt for the newer Marriott or the Holiday Inn right on the same street on my next visit.

OK, but....
This is a nice hotel and the room rate seems like a good bargain until you start noticing how they extract money from you. There are no vending machines on any of the floors; the only way to get a soft drink is to go down to the lobby and pay $2 at the little hotel store (where there is no attendant - you pay at the front desk). This is a bit pricey, even for a hotel, and is inconvenient. What decent hotel doesn't provide vending machines on its floors? I was charged $7 for a Vodka & Water at the hotel bar. On the elevator ride up to my room I happened to read the fine print on my room card informing me that unless I contact the front desk and decline it, I will be billed 75 cents every day for USA Today. I stay at a lot of hotels and have never been charged for USA Today - it's provided free of charge and I don't think the hotel pays for it, either. I asked if the Washington Post was available and was told no, though I found a Washington Post box in the little store. The very ordinary buffet breakfast is $11. Add all of this up and the "bargain" disappears, free cookies notwithstanding. It's not so much the dollar amount even, it's the unseemliness of it. The hotel is a bit isolated (hence the need for the shuttle) and there's no convenience store or place to get breakfast within a short walk. The shuttle is convenient and there's actually no sneaky fee for it (just tip the friendly driver). The staff is very friendly and helpful also. This is a nice place to stay as long as you're aware of the traps.

Staff went out of their way to help us!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/5/06
This was an awesome hotel to stay in while in the Washington DC area. We had never been to DC before and we're very pleased with our accommodations in Alexandria. Our room was wonderful. BUT the help was the most impressive. We were treated as if we were important guests. The staff went out of their way to accommodate any need we had including shuttle service to the Metro and even dropped us off at Ruby Tuesday's. We were looking for a restaurant before heading into DC and the driver suggested Ruby Tuesday's and we were so pleased. THANK YOU! THANK YOU For an awesome experience. Can't wait to come back.

Great Place to Stay near D.C
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/10/05
The hotel is located very close to a Metro station and it offers shuttle to and from the station. The service at the hotel is excellent and keep an eye out for the fresh baked cookies in the hotel lobby. I would recommend this hotel if you are considering visiting the D.C. area.
