Terrible Beyond Belief
I checked into this place as I had a Days Inn discount, due to a different visit when Days Inn had screwed up. I feel like an complete idiot for giving Days Inn another chance.
I was very tired after driving to Raleigh, and checked in, and the desk clerk accepted the discount no problem. My kids and I got settled into the room, and were dozing when a couple hours later, close to 11 pm, the desk clerk called and said he wasn't going to honor the discount, had changed his mind, and we would either have to pay full price or "vacate the premises."
This didn't seem fair, at this time of night, and a call to Days Inn 1-800 number confirmed that we had been checked in at the discounted price. I was a lone woman traveler with kids in a strange city and very tired, and I believe the desk clerk/management intended to take advantage of that.
Now, if that was the problem, why oh why didn't the desk clerk tell me there was a problem WHEN I CHECKED IN? I could go into more detail, but basically, the management at the Raleigh Days Inn on Wake Forest are sleazy and dishonest characters. I feel terrible that I had let my children sleep in a facility run by such people.
When I got home to call Guest Relations to complain, I was flabberghasted to find out that Days Inn didn't care at all what happened to me, or how me and my kids were treated. They said the only thing Guest Relations does is fax the complaint back to the offending Days Inn for their management to deal with. How can Days Inn conduct business this way? I already know they are unethical and dishonest; what hope do I have for any different outcome?
I stay at national chain motels because I figured that would offer me some measure of safety, and some corporate accountability if anything goes wrong.
But that is not the way Days Inn operates. They are just a front for a string of independent businesses, and offer the traveler no protection or security whatsoever.
I never, ever will give business to Days Inn. The budget price does not make up for the grief of dealing with people who treat their customers with such rank contempt.
