nice & quiet but a little dissapointed
By mike, 05/19/07
the hotel was very quiet when we stayed there, but i think thats because it was off season and not many other vacationers were there. room was clean and maids did a good job of keeping it that way, only bad things were i noticed the place has maintance issues. i saw cieling panels missing in the hallway, tile cracked in bathroom, wallpaper peeling on top of shower, pool was gross! water was ice cold and pumps not working with bugs floating everywhere, i even rescued a small lizard from the pool that had fallen in to eat the bugs and couldn't climb out because of the slick tile, the hottub was not hot it was just as cold as the pool, but being off season that might be why. staff was freindly and courtious and we even checked in early. breakfast was nice, the french toast with maple serup was great. with some proper maintance and upkeep it would be a vary nice place.

Disappointing.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/05/05
We had reservations - the hot tob feature looked good. When we got into town we went first to the wrong Comfort Inn - there are two of them. They directed us to the Comfort Inn and Suites. It is next to McDonalds, and near to the Cherokee Ampitheater. It was late in the day when we got there. When you walked through the front door, the smell was bad. However the lobby looked clean enough. We were given a room on the 3rd floor. When we got off the elevator, we got a blank stare from the maid, who was standing at the end of the hall smoking a cigarette. We went into the room - it had not been cleaned from the night before. We went to the lobby, and a polite desk clerk called to find a clean room. There were NONE. She asked if we would mind waiting 15 minutes or so. We decided to cancel our reservation and we left. We now know that there are many better places to stay. We ended up at the Drama Motel down the street - it looked older, but it was really very nice and cheaper.

OK, not great
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/23/05
Not the place I thought I was staying but where I ended up. Not much humanity staying out in this area, so one could say it was quite private. The solarium where you could eat your cereal was nice. The elevator worked but there was no blazing fire in the lobby fireplace. Basic, no problem, but probably too little for the money. Have stayed in Cherokee at Hampton and Holiday Inn. Better values.

Housekeeping bad
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/20/04
Comfort Suites Cherokee NC is fairly new (3 years old?)but our room was pretty beaten up. Our bathroom baseboards had broken tiles. Our first day there housekeeping didn't even clean our rooms! I understand that during that same day, Oct 12th 2004, three other rooms were skipped! All during our stay, 4 nites, our room was never vaccuumed and the bathroom floor had dirty sneaker prints from the 'housekeeper' all over the floor and with two women using the same bathroom there was hair everywhere, everyday! On the final day of our visit, our bathroom was so dirty, we didn't even use the shower.

I brought my own pillows and a light comforter and my bed was never made!!! The other bed was 'put together' but the sheets weren't even tucked under the mattresses causing them to rumple up while you slept! We had to 'remake' our beds everyday.

What saved this hotel from a bad rating was the breakfast area in the morning. It was great. The food was wonderful and the amenities for travelers was great. There was a toaster, microwave, and waffle iron with batter ready to make Belgiun waffles. Orange juice was so so but the coffee was good. Also, there was plenty of supplies like cold cerals on hand with diffeent types of milk. And enough variety of food and drinks to appease young and old for breakfast.
