worst hotel experience ever
I travel a lot. I have traveled in many different countries and have stayed in many different hotels. I know what to expect for the money paid. And the Clarion did not even come close to living up to expectations--as far as service and accommodations are concerned.
I stayed at the Clarion after two nights camping in Saguaro Nat'l Park. After two nights in a tent, any room would have been comfortable, right? But I wanted a nice, somewhat luxurious hotel stay to leave me with a wonderful impression of Tucson. What I got was anything but.
When my companion and I checked in we were given a room with a faulty air conditioner. When we asked to have it serviced, we were escorted to another room. The man doing the escorting couldn't be bothered to get off his cell phone even long enough to tell us "come this way." Instead, he grunted at us and glared his way down the hall, until we followed--never mind he might help us with our luggage. After we showered, we wanted a drink in the bar--we'd been given coupons for a free one--only to find the bar had closed at 8:00 pm---on a Saturday night! And on St. Patrick's Day, no less!
Fine, we'd make our own drinks. But then we found there was no ice in the machine on our floor. Second floor, same story. So, no drink.
When we turned in we asked for a 5:30 am wake up call b/c we had an early flight to catch. We never got the wakeup call. Fortunately we woke up anyway and made our flight on time.
The Clarion is not the Ritz, and I didn't expect Ritz-like service. But I've had better service at a Motel 6! And I wasn't paying Motel 6 prices at the Clarion. I expected and deserved better. When I voiced my concerns the next morning and later by letter I was completely ignored.
I will never stay at another Clarion Hotel.
If you want a convenient hotel near the Tucson airport, there are lots of other choices.
