Great Stay, Great Staff, Great Vacation!
By Donna L, 7/9/09
We enjoyed our stay very much. We stayed 3 nights, and our room was cleaned every day, and the staff and service was fantastic. Everyone was helpful, gave great advice on area attractions, and nice places to dine. We would absolutely stay and visit this Inn again, and also visit BoothBay Harbor again. Even with the bad weather, the local people go the extra mile to be as accomodating as possible.

Nice Motel in quiet area
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/17/08
The staff was very attentive and accommodating. This was a reasonably priced place to stay in Boothbay. I would recommend to families looking for basic lodging in a safe, quiet area. Not fancy, but it was clean and a good value for the money.

good choice
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/14/07
We stayed at Cap'n Fish's for the first time this summer. Nice place, clean and on the water. We enjoyed sitting on the deck at night and watching the harbor and all the boats. The inn is on the quiet side of the harbor which is nice but only a short walk over the footbridge to downtown Boothbay Harbor. No fridge or microwave though which would have been nice. People in the lobby were very friendly and helpful. Would definately stay again. Pat from PA

Heavenly Retreat
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/25/07
Yes, this motel is on the "quiet side" of town, that is what makes it so wonderful. You have the best of both worlds and can choose when you want to participate in the action of town or when you want to relax and have privacy that you can't get away from when staying in town. The town bustles from early morning until the bars close. Everyone is there to eat, shop, there are delivery trucks, tourists walking past your rooms, bands playing and traffic. But not on the quiet side. This has always been a family run business, passed down through the generations and they are all hard working wonderful family people.I feel fortunate to have met the original Bob Fish, he was like no other person. Most of the same staff is there from year to year, Jane is a fixture and you need your fix of Jane everyday, she adds a special touch. The guests are treated with a warm welcome and the staff will go out of their way to help you plan your time in the area, make reservations or share good information and give you the in and outs of things you won't find in tourist books. I caution you, once you stay, you'll be hooked. The beautiful sunsets, clean rooms, watching the lobster boats going out at dawn as the haze rises from the bay, returning in the afternoon with their haul, the whale watch boats and yachts, the lazy sail boats on sunny afternoons, the schooners, the working harbor at it's best. Even on rainy days it is still a great day here with plenty to do and see. The motel is also the best place to watch the sunset across the sky, over the harbor then down behind the town, the colors are wonderful and it is a free show every night. We brought our children there, now we bring our grandchildren. We have had five generations stay at the motel, from my grandparents to my grandchildren. Access to the property is private for the guests of the hotel so you don't have all the tourists hanging around or walking by, eating, congesting the streets and sidewalks. The noise of a lounge, live band, delivery trucks and loud people, traffic, noise, shopping, etc. But you are free to choose if and when you want to go into town with the peace of mind that you will escape it all because you have the best of both worlds and will be able to escape back to enjoy the peace and quiet of our hidden gem. There are restaurants within walking distance on this quiet side too, or a short walk over the footbridge. You can also drive and pay a very nominal fee to park or take the courtesy trolly during certain hours of the day, they ask only for a tip! It isn't a metropolitan area and if you are looking for room service, dinner, laundry service, find another state to visit, you won't be happy here. This is a simple clean, relaxed place that is reserved for those choosen few that need a Costal Main Holiday, Boothbay style far from the hustle and bustle of life. It is a reminder of how to be present in the joy of each day and experience simplicity. The beauty of nature, exploring the points, going out on boat trips, reading on the deck, or lounging in one of the many public area's and just looking and relaxing and taking in the harbor and smell of the air, feel of the sun and enjoying the view until you feel like moving. Its all there for you to experience and enjoy.

What a nice place
By Nikki Narducci, 6/30/06
This place was great for the price. The people were friendly and were right there if there was a problem. The rooms are no "Four Seasons Hotel" but they were nice, cute, and clean rooms. Another great thing was they had excellent coffee all throughout the day and it was always hot whether it was 6 am or 6 pm. The location is also great because you are not too close but not to far out of the village area. You just have to walk down the street and then across the footbridge and you're there. The only negative is that you're not as close to the village as the others but it's nice in a way because you're not in the crowd and you have your privacy. Oh yeah... how can I forget... there's an amazing view from any of the rooms and there is a nice dock to sit down there and enjoy the sunset. Altogether this was a great place and totally worth it. Hopefully you chose this place to stay because you will enjoy it very much and have fun!!!

By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/6/06
The people working here are always! very friendly. Example-Jane remembers your name and face from year to years. Unfortunately we will not be going here this year, but certainly hope to next year. We have been going here for the last 12-13 years, at least 3 times a year. Sincerely Andrea Stanhope & Chris Blanchard

Okay For The Price
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/10/05
The location is okay, you really need to be on the opposite side of the harbor to get to all the boat rides, breakfast restaurants, shopping, nicer public areas etc. You save money by staying here but then pay it back by having to pay parking lot fees when you go to the other side of the harbor (where EVERYTHING is). I paid for this room for my father to stay in (I stayed across harbor at Fishermans Wharf). I was given a choice of parking lot, harbor or bay views (and 3 different prces with bay being highest). I chose harbor and was told room was "overlooking harbor". NOT! The room overlooked the parking lot and IF you craned your head to the right you could see the harbor! You had to leave your room and go to public area to sit on deck and enjoy harbor views. Also, was told there was a refrigerator availble for dads insulin ... but the fridge was located in the office with no access from 11PM to 7AM! Misleading from what they said and the written confirmation I received! The room was clean, but small and nothing to write home about. Separate building advertises breakfast, but breakfast will cost an extra $7.00 and isn't worth it when you could eat in much nicer restaurants across the harbor with better food for less! (Eat breakfast at Blue Moon Cafe or Footbridge restaurant). The parking lot was noisy with folks riding Harley motorcycles, and there were kids on the floor above us that ran and pounded around, jumping off the bed, until 1 AM. (No way to complain because office closed at 11PM)! Perfect motel for folks on a budget! But if $20. per night more can get you a room in a nicer, quieter place on the active side of the harbor is this motel worth it???

Best deal in Boothbay harbor !
By Walter, 6/25/04
I have stayed in most of the motels in Boothbay harbor over the last 30 years. Had a few problems at some, ie. smoking, restaurants, wait staff ,etc. . I then decided to give Cap'n Fish's a try. It may not be the Ritz Carleton, but for the money , it's the best value in Boothbay harbor. Clean, cozy, great view from the deck, and very friendly staff. The restaurant is open for breakfast and it is excellent. I believe the room prices make this the best deal in Boothbay Harbor !!!
