Heavenly Retreat

Yes, this motel is on the "quiet side" of town, that is what makes it so wonderful. You have the best of both worlds and can choose when you want to participate in the action of town or when you want to relax and have privacy that you can't get away from when staying in town. The town bustles from early morning until the bars close. Everyone is there to eat, shop, there are delivery trucks, tourists walking past your rooms, bands playing and traffic. But not on the quiet side.
This has always been a family run business, passed down through the generations and they are all hard working wonderful family people.I feel fortunate to have met the original Bob Fish, he was like no other person. Most of the same staff is there from year to year, Jane is a fixture and you need your fix of Jane everyday, she adds a special touch. The guests are treated with a warm welcome and the staff will go out of their way to help you plan your time in the area, make reservations or share good information and give you the in and outs of things you won't find in tourist books. I caution you, once you stay, you'll be hooked. The beautiful sunsets, clean rooms, watching the lobster boats going out at dawn as the haze rises from the bay, returning in the afternoon with their haul, the whale watch boats and yachts, the lazy sail boats on sunny afternoons, the schooners, the working harbor at it's best. Even on rainy days it is still a great day here with plenty to do and see. The motel is also the best place to watch the sunset across the sky, over the harbor then down behind the town, the colors are wonderful and it is a free show every night. We brought our children there, now we bring our grandchildren. We have had five generations stay at the motel, from my grandparents to my grandchildren.
Access to the property is private for the guests of the hotel so you don't have all the tourists hanging around or walking by, eating, congesting the streets and sidewalks. The noise of a lounge, live band, delivery trucks and loud people, traffic, noise, shopping, etc. But you are free to choose if and when you want to go into town with the peace of mind that you will escape it all because you have the best of both worlds and will be able to escape back to enjoy the peace and quiet of our hidden gem. There are restaurants within walking distance on this quiet side too, or a short walk over the footbridge. You can also drive and pay a very nominal fee to park or take the courtesy trolly during certain hours of the day, they ask only for a tip! It isn't a metropolitan area and if you are looking for room service, dinner, laundry service, find another state to visit, you won't be happy here. This is a simple clean, relaxed place that is reserved for those choosen few that need a Costal Main Holiday, Boothbay style far from the hustle and bustle of life. It is a reminder of how to be present in the joy of each day and experience simplicity. The beauty of nature, exploring the points, going out on boat trips, reading on the deck, or lounging in one of the many public area's and just looking and relaxing and taking in the harbor and smell of the air, feel of the sun and enjoying the view until you feel like moving. Its all there for you to experience and enjoy.
