Hawthorn Inn
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/24/08
The Hawthorn Inn offers the perfect balance of comfort and elegance in a bed and breakfast. Attention to detail in decor and guests' needs is in abundance. My husband and I had the pleasure of spending a long weekend there recently with Innkeeper Maryanne Shanahan, her husband Bill and friendly, thought-provoking fellow guests. Our innkeeper makes it a priority to ensure that those who stay with her enjoy the very best of Camden's offerings. Maryanne proved invaluable in recommending places to in which to dine or ships in which to sail for sightseeing around the lovely town. Still, I doubt that any of the local restaurateurs could match Maryanne's talent in serving beautiful, taste sensations for daily breakfast. The weather even permitted us to enjoy two of those scrumptious morning meals on one of the several decks -- masterfully built by Bill -- that overlook the Hawthorn Inn's considerable rear gardens. My spouse and I look forward to returning to the Hawthorn Inn, which pretty much says it all...

It was perfect!
By Momo, 7/3/08
My Husband proposed to me and he had reserved a room at the Inn for us! It was incredible. The InnKeeper was so sweet and helpful. We live in Florida, but she still managed to work everything out with my husband to make that night spectacular. She even called the restaurant we were going to to ask them to do something special with the ring, so that all my husband had to do that day was give them the ring. I've been there again twice. We go every year, at least for a night. And the breakfast is delicious. Maryanne is a wonderful cook!

Perfectly Beautiful
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/24/05
The Hawthorn Inn was by far the best bed and breakfast we have ever visited. Camden, Maine is a lovely town and the Hawthorn Inn fits right in. Our room was in the Carriage House which is behind the main inn and is very private. Our room had a patio with a rock garden which overlooked the Celtic Gardens beyond. The fourposter bed was covered with a wonderful feather mattress and we slept like logs. We even opted to stay an extra day. The large bath with Jacuzzi was luxurious and we took full advantage of the bath salts provided by our hostess. The thick and warm bath robes were to die for! Our breakfast were delicious. Breakfast Burritos with homemade Mango Salsa one day and Lime Yoghurt and fruit followed by Belgian Waffles with Maple Pecan topping the next day. The proprietress, Maryanne Shanahan, was warm and friendly helping us select a restaurant in town for dinner and accommadations along our travel route up the coast of Maine. My husband and I would love to go back sometime. It was a memorable vacation.

A Taste of Heaven
By Maria, 4/21/04
This has been my third stay at the Hawthorn Inn and definitely won't be my last. It is a refuge from the hectic life I lead as an ER nurse in NYC. Maryanne Shanahan, the innkeeper, has a gift of making one feel you are totally at home at this beautiful inn along with her sweet dog, Tori. The rooms are gorgeous and spotless. I especially like the fireplaces and bathrooms. Breakfast is a culinary delight and the attention to detail reflects in every aspect. Maryanne's knowledge of Camden, surrounding areas and restaurants is vast and anything she recommends has been a hit. While I was there, someone was planning a wedding at the Hawthorn and I thought what a perfect place for that special event. I am already looking forward to the time when I return.

Best Bed and Breakfast I have every stayed in!
By Becca, 3/29/04
The Hawthorn Inn in Camden is the best bed and breakfast that my husband and I have ever stayed in. The decor was beautiful, the food tremendous and the Innkeeper Maryanne, dedicated and delightful. Maryanne went the extra mile in every area to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. The robes that we purchased from her gift shop were a marvelous gift, which our friends have loved! All in all a very enjoyable stay!
