5 reviews for Holiday Inn North Haven, North Haven
horrible experience
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/27/09
I booked the Holiday Inn in North Haven to be my hotel for all my out of town guests and bridal party on my wedding night. After a year of planning, nothing went right. I had reserved a block of 20 rooms for my guests and all 20 rooms were reserved a month before the wedding and i was guaranteed the suite with the jacuzzi. i set up a special guest rate for my wedding block as well. I also set up the hotel shuttle to drop off and pick up my guests since the reception hall was about a 5 minute drive from the hotel. Times were set, i received a call the day before my wedding to assure me there would be no issues. The day of my wedding my mother and i received numerous calls from my guests letting me know they were having issues getting there rooms. When i got to the hotel i was told they had an issue with there computer system and nothing was showing up. The front desk clerk was rude and started to get loud with me and i asked to speak to a manager. I asked my photographer to wait while i worked on these issue. i was then told my room was also given away to another bride and was finally given a reg suite which i was not happy with since the sheets on the bed were dirty. after speaking with hotel management i was assured there would be no more issues. the shuttle escorted my guests to the reception. After the reception i see 15 of my guests sitting outside, the shuttle didn't come to pick them up, i call the hotel and i was told the shuttle was picking up other guests they screwed up the pick up times and my guests would have to wait another 30 minutes or more until they are picked up. this was unacceptable, since it was cold out, i called people to come back and give these guests rides. Once i got to the hotel i deal with a few of my guests sitting in the lobby and i am now told that the hotel has given away there rooms. after i was guaranteed that my 20 rooms were held, i am told the hotel gave some of my rooms away. i was irrate. they basically told me and my guests they couldn't do anything for us. The hotel sent some of my guests home but before doing so they said they would comp them drinks at the bar. My guests couldn't believe this, they had to drive over 2 hours and all the hotel was willing to do was give them alcohol. after expressing there anger about this they were told they could stay at a holiday inn half way, which they did do. the hotel could not even put them up in a bordering hotel since those hotels were also booked. so regardless they had to drive. after speaking with management the next morning, i was given an apology. I said i wanted more than that. on my wedding day i had to deal with things i should not have had to deal with. I was comped my room which was had dirty sheets to begin with, and my guests received an additional $20 off there room rate. The next day i sent an email to the manager and the woman i had worked with for a year outlining what happened and my disgust with the hotel. I sent an email trying to contact corporate to speak with them and was told i would be contacted in 48 hours and i have yet to be contacted by them. Do not use this hotel. they do not care about there customers, and when something happens there hands are tied so to speak and they can't rectify situations. they need to work on there customer service and retrain there staff to be nice to the customer. Each manager passed the buck off to the other, i will never go back to this hotel or any holiday inn ever again. they ruined my wedding day. the happiest day of my life was turned into one of the worst with everything i had to deal with.

Good Experience
By Terry, 06/24/06
I've stayed at this Holiday Inn several times. I often have to visit in New Haven for business. The city is an easy, 10 minute drive away from North Haven. The rooms in the hotel and nice and clean. The restarurant is good. For me, the service has always been fine.

no room to sit
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/03/06
I stay at holiday inns every week for work atleast 140 nights a year and this is the first time in 10 years that I has unhappy with the room and service. the main problem was that in my room (#285) the toilet was 4" from the wall where the toilet paper rolls where on the right side. on the left side there was at least a foot and a half of open space form the sink.A child of 6years old could use sit but thats about it, The next night I said someting to the girls at the desk and they thought that I was joking.(I was not) there was no soap or shampoo for the three nights that I stayed there. The only reson that I stayed there was because the next closes holiday inn was closed for that week. You can get sleep but you can't sit there......

Don't risk it and don't use Travelocity
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/02/06
We booked this hotel because it had an indoor pool which we discovered on arriving closed during our visit. But the hotel refused to make any real compensation. It was impossible to speak to a manager who during our four days had always just stepped out. Suggest you don't use Travelocity either. They provide no help and the hotel and Travelocity each blame each other for any problems. To add insult to injury, the hotel billed us twice for the room that we had paid for through Travelocity.

The worst hotel ever
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/10/05
We had booked and paid for a King size bed. Upon arrival, we were told that no such rooms where available, and got a room with 2 smaller beds. I asked when such a room would be available, and was told to check with them every morning. After doing this for a few days and being denied, I happened upon a person at the front desk I hadn't seen before. Pretending to be a new guest, I asked if they had Rooms with king size beds. The answer of course was yes. At this point they had little choice but to offer us this room, which had a much higher rate. Of course they gave us a room that had trains going by on the outside, and across the hall was the hotels laundry where they made a huge racket every morning and left the door open despite my repeated pleas to close it. The only reason we went to this hotel is the fact that they have a pool. At the beginning of the stay the pool was comfortable for our 2 year old, but then the water got colder and colder. When we inquired about this, we were told that "this is as warm as it gets". Other pool users were similarly baffled by this comment. I have stayed at quite a few holiday inns, and this one is by far the worst one, and definitely not worth the price. The restaurant is pretty good.
