Timber Haven Lodge, Big Bear Lake

We absolutely loved Timber Haven Lodge in Big Bear Lake, CA! The cottage was delightful, perfect size for my wife and I and our two young daughters. The service was excellent, whatever we needed was at our beckon call. The location is great-just down the street from skiing, around the corner from snow-walking and nearby the town, but yet far enough away that you feel like you're in your own little world. Having waited to the last minute to book holiday vacation plans, Timber Haven afforded the best pricing for our stay. The location is just before you entered into town so it was nice to be a bit away from all the hectic other tourists. It is located just off the main highway on a quiet residential street. A lot of great areas in the surrounding forest to explore and play in the snow if there in the winter. The owners Karen and Mehrdad were lovely and very helpful. We found the accommodations to be very comfortable and clean. We will definitely return for another stay.

We've been looking forward our annual Big Bear trip not only for the snow, but also for the hospitality we know we will receive when we arrive at Timber Haven Lodge. The hospitality, cleanliness, location and comfort offered was the best we've experienced anywhere!! Even our children remember our experience there last year and call it "our cabin!" Timber Haven truly feels like home!

Great time on 4th of July weekend at Timber Haven Lodge. Location was great, away from the crowd, yet close to everything, couldn't have picked a better location. Lodging capacity was 9 units, private parking to our cabin was a plus, and the playground was just outside our doors. Barbecue's, ping pong and a jacuzzi was also available to all. Give this place a try, you won't be disappointed.

We loved everytyhing about Timber Haven Lodge. Just discovered it in our AAA book and were thrilled with EVERYTHING!! The location to the Village is awesome, the Cabin we stayed in was sooo quaint and well appointed. Gave us a real "up in the mountains" experience. Mehrdad and Karen were extremely friendly and went out of their way to ensure we had a perfect experience. They offer a great "extended" continental breakfast, that they brought to our cabin. (I have to admit, we were their only guests on our 1st morning, and they were the ones who offered cabin service, how cool is that?). We also had a video library at our disposal and they had firelogs. Good thing, as both items we forgot to bring with us. We will definitely stay here again!!

This was a really relaxing place and Karen and Mehrdad were the most amazing hosts/owners. Never felt as welcome in any other place. We plan to come back and also will be telling our kids, grand kids and great grand kids about this fabulous place.

Our first family vacation (without friends or relatives accompanying) was terrific at THL! The scenic mountain beauty, abounding pines, perfect cottage for 3 big enough for 4. I loved the quaint fully stocked kitchen, crisply pressed, starched linens and drapes, modernly large shower with fast, hot water! Hubby thoroughly enjoyed clean grounds, easy town roads access, engaging (not overbearing) managers-owners who treated us as guests always hope to be received. Thorough yet unobtrusive daily housekeeping, safe modern outdoor playground for youngsters and the sofa with queen pullout bed for our child, ample leg room and creature comfort for cozy table-dining, relaxed sprawling, videos, etc, inside our right-sized quiet cottage. Many online cottage rentals we viewed (and many hotels too) had miserable reviews, gouging fees, noisy, and worst filthy or greedily managed or thrown-together thrift store haphazard decor or leaky roof, broken plumbing. NOT HERE! Mgrs enjoy their job, our unit functioned perfectly throughout, theme and decor excellent, mgrs happily answered just enough tourism info to springboard our existing plans, were happy to see guests' needs met and go the extra mile. No rowdy neighbors, cottage-critter worries, or vulnerable personal possessions here. Tucked just off main roads enough to enjoy window-watching morning squirrels and listen to distant ducks. Our online discovery of THL and online purchase was easy as 123, done in a couple minutes, smooth, hassle-free! Despite our unexpected traffic and weather delays, a pleasant vacation was our assurance, as we were quickly given dedicated parking with clear walkpaths amidst winter bluster, and our own fireplace warming us in no time at all. Timber Haven pays attention to the details for its guests, so they can just relax and enjoy. The freshly stocked kitchen and bath baskets, and coupons were great, and whether we fetched our Continental Breakfast selections or phoned for room service during 'weather', smiles and good cheer accompanied all deliveries. Our queen bed, bureaus, closets and mirrored vanities gave us plenty of storage space. Next visit, we'd like to try the massage package, or... I liked that it had new appliances and had been recently remodeled, I liked the fact that the bathroom had doors to the bedroom and the living room so when the kids are sleeping in the living room, you don't have to pass through. The staff was great. The down sides were the fact that the parking lot was not plowed very well and I could barely exit given the snow and ice and there were a few broken tiles in the bathroom. I did not mind paying this price.
