Best yet!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/12/09
Hotel Sausalito, wounderful rooms, friendly staff, central location. Once we saw this hotel we were thrilled. The view of San Fransico was breath taking. The central location of this hotel made travel to San Fransico a breeze. A short plesant drive north, 45 minutes, to NAPA and Sanoma, lovely. The choice of eateries with in a 5 minute stroll was suprising; hot dogs to Italian cuisine to bay area specialities, home cooked meals to great steaks. Don't feel like driving to Frisco take the ferry, a 1 minute walk from the hotel. The quiteness in the evenings and early morning allows you feel the enority of the waves breaking against the sea walls. Very friendly town folk and a very clean town. With out a doubt we would stay in Sausalito over San Fransico any day. Thanks for a great time

great weekend getaway spot.
By califpoppy, 03/07/08
cozy and comfortable and for the area, reasonably priced. I liked the bed, very comfortable. The free breakfast is a nice touch . I have stayed there three times and never been disappointed by the service.I live in the area and this is a good place to stay just for a romantic weekend, great location near the ferry landing and lots of places to shop and eat.

Our forever place of restful escape
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/11/08
Our 30th wedding annivesary was magical at the Hotel Sausalito...hot tea and scones from our upstairs open windowed view of the park fountain...smiles every time we were greeted by the inn keeper's charming brogue...my husband often comments that this is where he wants to retire! We dream of owning this quaint, serene & comfortably appointed inn where memories are made, so that its historical charm and ambiance is there for generations of those in love...

Extremely Enchanting!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/10/07
The location is prime, the ambiance is unforgettable and the staff were a joy to deal with and extremely helpful. Sausalito is a sleepy little gem that will keep me coming back again and again. Overall a pleasant experience and well worth the expense. The complementary morning java and pastry were a special touch as were the apple tray in the upstairs hallway and bottled water chest.

Best Kept Secret
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/12/06
The Hotel Sausalito is the most cozy and comfortable of those in Sausalito. Located within walking distance of everything it is a far better choice than either the Alta Mira or the Casa Madrona for location. And yet, you can easily walk to them for Sunday brunch or dinner. It is far more classy than the tacky Inn Above Tide, whose only claim to fame is its ocean views--disco ball and mirrors on the ceiling extra. If you are looking for a classy night, comfortable stay, and a warm environment to enjoy the beautiful bay, you could not do better.

Terrible service
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/06/06
After much anticipation of finally visiting the Bay Area, and one of its most historic small towns (Sausalito), I am sorry to have made the mistake of staying at the Hotel Sausalito. The rooms were small and stuffy, service was terrible, and the staff seemed to have blatant disregard as to whether or not we (the guests!) were enjoying our stay. Not to mention that the bathrooms needed attention. I will say that the town and location were beautiful, but I would not recommend this hotel. Some friends of ours stayed at a different hotel nearby, and seemed to have only good things to say about it - if my husband and I do make it back to this beautiful town, we will make a point of avoiding this hotel!

I can't wait to go back!
By A Yahoo! User, 12/15/05
In addition to the Inn Above Tide, I must say that Hotel Sausalito is a class act! Spectacular views of San Francisco Bay and the city skyline as you stroll, bicycle or roller-blade past shops, cafes and art galleries. Just steps from the shops, observe seals in action and watch sailboats in the bay. Glamorous yachts berthed a few feet away from noteworthy restaurants, including Ondine, located in the historic Yacht Club, provide a memorable backdrop to an already breathtakingly picturesque town. Reminiscent of the French Riviera, the town's center is charming little Vina del Mar Park with its huge stone fountain. The park is adjacent to the ferry landing. "...a great place to cuddle up, whether for reasons of rain or romance ...an un-European bath with a glassed in shower so large it would rent for $900. a month in Manhattan...in short, these are rooms that beg for a 48-hour "Do Not Disturb" sign. - Los Angeles Times Romance is what I'm all about! And the Hotel Sausalito is just the perfect place to do just that! Julia

A gem moments from the city by the bay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/16/05
The moment we walked in, we knew we made the perfect choice. The exterior and lobby are elegant yet intimate, not pretentious at all. The hotel's manager who greeted us made us immediately feel at home and welcome, and had us in stitches with his jokes. He, and all of the staff, were hands down the friendliest and most personable ever. The room took our breath away -- tasteful and unique decor, breathtaking view (not expected) from a large bay window, elegant bathroom, everything impecably clean. My only regret -- that we could not stay longer! We definitely plan to return.
