WOW!
By Raquel, 9/15/10
Huge rooms, Ocean view room was GREAT and loved the huge courtyard area they had. Have already recommended this place to people, I would definitely stay there again, SO close to the Cliff House and Ocean Beach. Room had a kitchen. It's kinda 60's feeling, but it made it kinda fun. The only bad thing is the elevator is kinda small and scary. PARKING was SO easy and great.

Great little place
By Linda, 7/31/10
We didn't have reservations when we came to town, my mistake, we asked at a gas stations for a inexpensive hotel close by and they directed us to this one, it was great and it was far enough away from the city so I could unwind and the room was large with a view of the ocean. We enjoyed the dinner at Louies just down the street (the Cliff house was out of our price range) I would stay here again on my next visit to San Francisco

“Unable to book reservation”
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/12/07
Contacted hotel directly and was not able to obtain a reservation. The employee that answered the phone, and latter his supervisor, have no patience to answer simple questions. They were very rude and actually hung-up the phone (twice). Fortunately, there are plenty of other choices for lodging in the SF area as I would not recommend staying at the Seal Rock Inn.

Very '50s, but in a nice way
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/26/07
What a deal! For a very reasonable rate I got an ocean view room with a real fireplace-- oak logs included-- cable TV, DSL internet and an in-room fridge. The bed was comfortable and the whole place was spotlessly clean. Reading some of the negative reviews below, I can't help but wonder if they didn't stay there when the place was under someone else's management. I saw no mold or holes in the wall. The staff was polite, too. There is a certain mid-century look to the place, but I found that kind of charming. Quintessentially San Francisco almost-funky without being shabby. It's true that the side of the hotel fronting 48th Avenue does look out on a bus terminus; there was a double bus parked there every time I went out. You might want to ask for a room on the Point Lobos Avenue side of the hotel. And the parking area under the building might present a problem for someone with a big car. Those are the only negatives I can think of, though. I will certainly stay here again.

Great S.F. Value
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/13/07
Perfect location if you like the ocean and to go for a walk in a beautiful park with an ocean view. Parking is easy and does not cost extra - which is a great value in S.F.

nice little place
By Derrick & Marie, 6/6/06
This motel is in a great location close to the beach and away from the city. Everyone that worked there seemed to be very friendly and it was clean but When they say ocean view it is not, don't pay the extra $ the view is of the trees of the park next door and the parking lot at the beach. Would be great for families with little kids because there is a little kitchen with a refrigerator. We had breakfast the next day in the restaurant it was ok. I probably would stay there again if we wanted to be by the beach. we only stayed one night this time. It is an older motel.

Decent Motor Inn in Great Location
By David Griffin, 5/12/06
Location Great: Seal Rocks, Sutro Bath Ruins, Sutro Heights Park, Trailhead toward Baker Beach (Golden Gate Bridge), Bus stops for 38L and 18, Golden Gate Park not too far away, Great views of the ocean, relaxed location Other positives: Restaurant food is pretty good, especially breakfast; Free parking; Decent TV and channel selection; Small refrigerator and microwave; Kitchenette with stove, but cabinets locked up apparently if you don't pay extra; Nice little courtyard; ping pong table; pool Negatives: Restaurant a bit expensive, but not out of line with everything else; No laundry services or washer dryers on site and the nearest coin op is too far to easily walk; Decor is a bit dated to 1959 origins; Long way from the center of town and other tourist places; Couches are twin bed convertables and I found them hard on my back when used as couches; Restaurant closes before dinner; No snack machine and nearest convenience store is 5 blocks away (walkable but far); Only nearby dinner restaurant (Cliff House) very expensive; No air conditioning (though it was cool outside and not a problem for me) On balance I thought it was a good place for me to stay. It was more relaxed than the hustle bustle crowds in the city. It was a nice location for visiting lots of things in the evening and some (the trail to Baker each) even had views of the Golden Gate Bridge only about 10 minutes from the motel. liked sitting in my room with the windows open and a nice cool breeze watching the sun set over the Pacific. I found the need to bring so many clothes (no place to wash) somewhat annoying as was the need to walk to the Walgreens 5 blocks away if I wanted a snack in the evenings.

They are not nice.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/20/06
I live close to this hotel. When I asked to let my daugther use a bathroom, they don't let her use it. Even my 6 years daughter was almost crying. I will never ever use this hotel and tell people about their unkindness.

You get what you pay for....
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/1/05
Whoa.... I perused some of these reviews and....is everyone with a positive review just that use to staying at the Motel 6 or Red Roof Inn adjacent to the Interstate or what???? 70's decor with dust from the same decade, spaced out staff and MILES from what would be considered the actual city. I've learned my lesson. Ouch!

Awesome Awesome Inn
This is my favorite place to stay when we visit San Francisco. It has the ocean across the streets, the rooms are very private, a pool and ping pong table. Actually even a great restraunt downstairs. Basically you have everything you could want, and don't have to leave your room. I highly recommend this place. They have everything within walking distance and I feel very safe and secure just taking a pleasure walk to the ocean from our room. Also a hiking trail across the street.
