Izaak Walton Inn, Essex

First of all, there's nothing to dislike at the Izaak Walton Inn. It's cozy, comfortable, enjoyable, relaxing, the perfect ahhhhh. Their motto is "where time stands still, and lets you catch up", and they really mean it. The rooms are simple, clean, and comfortable with a great view of the train tracks. Railroad fans and non-railroad fans will equally enjoy the scenery with quiet walks thru the woods or a drive thru Glacier National Park (about a quarter mile away). In the evenings, the guests tend to migrate to the lobby (which is more like a living room) with the giant fireplace where everyone just chats and enjoys an old-fashioned conversation. The owners are superb at providing an atmosphere that truly feels like you're at home-away-from-home. Stop in. You'll leave as one of the family.
